  1. I listened to the first two discs yesterday. First time I’ve heard it. I love Wynton’s playing but Coltrane’s playing was on another level.

    Cecil Taylor RIP

In today’s New Yorker, Cecil Taylor and the Art of Noise
  3. There has to be some irony, somewhere, that the White Sox play at a place called Guaranteed Rate Field.

I found this Guild Discography on line. http://www.78discography.com/Guild.htm
  5. What a wild one that was! I’m not sure we deserved that goal but we’ll take it.
  6. RM is living on the edge, the precipice, actually
  7. Not yet but without those two teams they have a better chance than they had on Monday. As a Spanish fan, I hope Sevilla wins. An all Spanish final would be wonderful.
  8. With Barcelona out (how sweet that sounds!), the way is now open for Real Madrid (assuming they can win today; fingers crossed) to win a third consecutive Champions League
  9. Let's face it: the starters aren't that great once you get past Severino and Tanaka, and Cashman -- at least so far -- has made the mistake many make: thinking that because the bullpen did it in 2017, they can replicate it in 2018. You have to change it up from year to year to be successful.
  10. Boone is like a deer caught in headlights.
  11. The Mets are looking great so far; I’m enjoying this tremendously but the starters are not carrying their weight. They’re averaging between five and six innings a start, which, if not remedied, will take it’s toll on the bullpen.
  12. This one looks pretty interesting.
  13. I’ve never had a problem. Works well for us.

I should have looked it up before I posted The rule is 95 years. Works created and copyrighted (that is, registered or published) prior to January 1, 1978, are protected for 95 years from the date the copyright was originally secured (95 years from the earlier of the registration or publication). The 95-year period is divided into an initial term of 28 years and a renewal term of 67 years.1 Works created prior to January 1, 1978, that were neither copyrighted nor fell into the public domain before that date are protected for the life of the author plus 70 years, provided (i) in no event shall the term of the copyright in such a work expire before December 31, 2002, and (ii) if such a work is published on or before December 31, 2002, the term of the copyright shall not expire before December 31, 2047. You would know better but isn't the rule 75 years after issuance or am I wrong (won't be the first).

I assume all these recordings are now in the public domain.
  17. I know this is an old thread. I was wondering if there had been any new boxes issued and the last one I see on Amazon France was from 1958.
  18. I remember that loser Luis Castillo. Don't remind me.

From a brief online search, it looks like a couple of people have tried to put a discography together. There's a lot of non jazz. http://www.45worlds.com/78rpm/label/musicraft http://www.78discography.com/Musicraft200.htm
  20. I've had this years but somehow never got around to listening to it!

I have the Dizzy Musicraft one.
  22. It's a bit convoluted or complicated before you grasp the story.
  23. My recollection was that the reviews were positive.
  24. Oddly enough, I can't find the CD. I fortunately saved it to my iTunes library.
