I assume you’re referring to this one.

I suppose you have a valid point although the dancing is the part that I like the least but I do agree it has some potential. After all, jazz was dance-able and supposed to be so in its early history. I re-watched that gym one and can see that her moves may be trying to put jazz in dance steps, if that makes any sense. She's trying different ways of expression so I have to give her credit for that.
  4. Bought the Scott on a whim and the Gentle Jug, both to hear Patty Bown and Gene Ammons.

    Okay, let's. Post away.
  6. The Mosaic Jazz Gazzette brought up this article today: Phil Schaap: the Walking History Book of Jazz David Remnick of the New Yorker crafted a wonderful 2008 portrait of Phil Schaap as the obcessive institution of New York morning radio. His vivid descriptions of Phil in high gear make his show come alive. -Michael Cuscuna
  7. I picked this up based on The Enthusiast column in The NY Times a couple of weeks ago. I can't say I'm completely loving it yet but it is funny in spots.

My initial reaction when I saw your last few postings was that “he’s obsessed.” I just watched some of the videos you posted and maybe it’s your way of saying, see, this is what’s going on in some quarters. However, I could be totally wrong and am probably am. My other reaction is, what, is she a joke or just engaging in some bad self promotion. That spot from the gym is just about her and her moves, in my opinion, and her “assets” and that video of Some of My Favorite Things??? Get real. What a joke. A travesty. Can you imagine Coleman Hawkins or ____ (pick your own) doing some of the moves she’s doing?
  9. According to Steve Wallace’s article, she played on Dinah’s Dinah Washington Sings Fats Waller, from 1957.
  10. Thanks for the link Kevin. I was looking for it under the original album name.
  11. Ted, I was very impressed with his writing and knowledge, so much so that I signed up for his blog.
  12. This is a terrific article. Thanks Ted for posting. If mentions many recordings that she played on. Some of the comments are interesting, especially Bill Crow’s. An underrecognized musician. The article mentions this as part of a cd two fer. Looked on eBay and they have the vinyl but no Cd. She is also on this, which you can probably still find.
  13. As far as I know Katz's is still around. There is still a Carnegie Deli in Vegas but obviously it's not the same thing.

    THIS!!!!

We could all use some slitting. I noticed that there are a bunch of other CDs from NDR. Any recommendations?
  16. Live at the Winery, from Bandcamp.
  17. I had received an email from Verve on RSD that the vinyl was going to be available in limited quantities that day. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get to any record store that day.
  18. He doesn't have extra boxes but they have books for almost every set made.
  19. She’s on the Birth of a Band session on the Quincy Jones Mosaic box.

Below is a very thorough discographical essay written by Noal Cohen that appeared in Jazz Profiles (thanks to the Jazz Gazette for mentioning the article) about Herb Geller’s musical life in Europe, where he lived from 1962 on. I only have a handful of Geller’s recordings (all pre-1962) but always enjoyed his work. http://jazzprofiles.blogspot.com/2018/02/herb-geller-career-retrospective-by.html?m=1
  21. There have been a lot of auctions like that lately. Not a bad deal if you don’t mind not having the box or book (you might be able to get the latter from Mosaic).
