I ordered it today but it’s not scheduled to arrive until early April.

Earlier today....and yesterday, disc IV.

I think they had more books but wouldn’t swear to it. Why don’t you email Scott. If you’re not in the area, I can call him on Saturday. What are you looking for?

The people listed above as sidemen were both sidemen and leaders so as someone noted they were never true sidemen. They were all part of the BN Family as someone noted or just the talent or bench that Alfred could draw upon for a date.

Dying to see it but it’s not out here in the sticks

Just ordered it.

I picked up a CD from the set yesterday’s Open House and am loving it! I know this is a stretch since it’s an extremely old Mosaic but if anyone has one (the CD version) they’d like to part with or share, please let me know. I purchased the book so I’m covered in that area. Thanks.

Hey Kids, Have You Heard The News? MOSAIC's IN TROUBLE!!!
Brad replied to JSngry's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Thanks. I should have taken a few photos. Brain fart! I was looking for the new Wilson set since you could see everything and walk anywhere but didn't see it. Should have asked Scott. I will pick it up at Jazz Bash in late June. -

I went to the open house today. I hadn't been to these offices before but they are smaller than the prior ones. I'm glad I went as they had a lot of different things. They had a few partial sets and a few out of print sets; I nabbed the Quincy Jones set. In addition, they had some single cds from previously issued sets, I purchased a CD (the only ones available) from the early Bechet set, a Teagarden CD and a cd from the Akiyoshi and Tabackin Select. You could also purchase the book from their previously issued sets; I wound up purchasing eight of them, including the book from the Tina Brooks and Basie Roulette Studio sets. They have an amazing inventory of the older booklets. For example, they must have had six or seven copies of the Basie one so I picked out the best one. In my opinion, that was the best thing about going. I'm surprised they don't put them on eBay or sell them off the web site. They had Japanese CDs of Blue Notes for only $12 per but I passed on them. Figured I'd spent enough. They were also selling a variety of CDs from different companies. There was also some "best of" recordings of Blue Notes issued by a Japanese company in a long box. As I had most of them I passed. They also had many, many slicks; I picked up the Powell one. They were also selling prints and if you wanted ones on the wall, they would sell them too. There were also non-Mosaic LPs and books (including Blue Note postcards; probably should purchased that but didn't. Of course, you could also buy current Mosaics and I wound up purchasing the Basie Lester Young Studio. I wouldn't say it was overly crowded but the people who were there weren't skimping on money -

I sent an email asking him to reserve a few booklets. Maybe he can’t do that. I will be going anyway. -

I'm not sure it may be worth going. What I mostly want are the booklets. -
It is savvy marketing but not much else, sort of a version of Zelig-ness. I was going to call it a jazz version of Zelig but that's a little too strong.

Read the article where the photo came from. He’s a svelte 133 nowadays but he looks too skinny.

There are a few Django boxes on eBay, although not real cheap. Only one auction for a single disc but not the one you want.

Yup. When he died, my parents lived over there (hence my interest in things all Spain) and at his casket, old Falangists (Spanish fascists) gave the salute and proclaimed “Presente Generalissimo!,” which loosely means present and reporting for duty.

It only got bad in the SCW, when the left turned on itself, around 1937 I’d say. Had the western nations helped it might not have been that way. However, since the Soviets were the only ones willing to provide aid, the Republican government had no choice to ask for their support.

Dan, you’re right, it’s the tyranny of the minority and scary for our future. I guess college is not for being exposed to other points of view anymore.

Forget Russia. She may be the answer to getting him out.

His response added little although I agree that the last paragraph wasn’t necessary. That doesn’t invalidate the rest of the article. I'm not a big fan of Pierce's. Notwithstanding, the concern is what’s been happening on college campuses where opposite points of view aren’t allowed unless it fits in with what the majority want to hear. What happened at Middlebury last year was typical. This is not to say I subscribe at all to what these speakers are saying but the tyranny of the majority should be a concern.

See this in today’s New York Times, https://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/03/07/opinion/were-all-fascists-now.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Fopinion&action=click&contentCollection=opinion®ion=stream&module=stream_unit&version=latest&contentPlacement=3&pgtype=sectionfront&referer=https://www.nytimes.com/section/opinion?pagetype=Homepage&action=click&module=Opinion Ditto. His playing leaves me cold. Nothing I haven’t heard before.
