  1. Years ago Kendrys Morales -- El Cubano -- did get hurt when he played for the Angels.
  2. This is truly an amazing novel about the Vietnam War, that touches so many themes: the end of the War, Vietnamese in American society, commentary about American culture, being a mole (spying) and finding one's place. It's not for nothing it won a Pulitzer.
  3. I just retired. Takes a little getting used to.
  4. I have had a couple of people ask me if Judge is juicing. I hope not but his stats have changed drastically since the minors. He will quiet these claims by doing it again next year.
  5. Disc 1, one of my favorite Mosaics.
  6. Never did get the Nelson but don't regret it either.
  7. I listened to the set intermittently over the last couple of months and by the time I reached the end, the set had begun to wear on me, particularly disc 11 and 12 (Katz, Mance and Cobb). This is a broad generalization but a lot of sameness.
  8. Unfortunately, it's a sign of today's athletes, prevalently seen in football, which started it all.
  9. Not me. Having lived in Spain, I was rooting for Muguruza.
  10. They'd have to pay me to watch it.
  11. Well, if this bothers you so much, there's a simple solution: don't buy from them again.
  12. My son's car, a 2004 Camry, has one but do they sound better than CD? Can't think they do.
  13. Are there any cassette players around anymore?
  14. Completely agree Larry. Yup, amen to that. The whole issue from today on this thread seems to have to do with shipping and response times from Mosaic. I'm not particularly happy about how long it took me to get the Ella set and I did send off to Scott a rather curt email (for which I later apologized) but at the end of the day I cooled off and cut them slack because they're offering a unique product. It's not like I can go online and find someone else who sells what they sell. If that were the case, yes, I would have cancelled my order. In my business they're what you call a single source supplier. Moreover, and last and not definitely least, they're a jewel and we just can't lose them, warts and all.
  15. They're short staffed. Hard to get Scott on the phone but he does reply by email within a couple of days.
  16. A wonderful album from two different dates.
  17. Finding an effective 7th inning guy is probably the hardest bullpen position to fill.
  18. With 20/20 hindsight that's probably true but looking into the future last year, the future didn't look particularly bright and no one thought the Yankees would be that good this year. Moreover, had Betances pitched up to his capabilities this year, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation.
  19. Meet the Mets was the original theme song of the Mets and still used. A great version was by Jane Jarvis when ballparks still had organs before they gave themselves over to blaring rock and hip hop songs. At Citifield each player has his own song which they play when he comes up to bat.
  20. Five Guys are good burgers. We ate at In and Out only once (in Irvine I think) and were unimpressed. Stuckeys, HoJo and the like are what someone remarked to me about Bob's Big Boy (where I briefly worked back in the 70s): "a glorified shit stand."
