  1. Horace Parlan, Mobley and Art Blakey and the JMs.
  2. Maybe just a year? Years might be optimistic. In response to Jim's question from a couple of days ago, my uneducated guess is they will do a slow fade and then one day they'll be gone.
  3. Belated wishes Lon!
  4. It was certainly a hell of a fight. He gave Ventura a few good knocks! Was there a history beteeen then or had Ventura been plunked a lot that year?
  5. I hope Ryan (a marginal HOFer) got the worst of it but looks like he got a few good licks on Ventura.
  6. I'm not sure what's hard to understand what Scott said: they are attempting to survive and will attempt to do so as long as they can but absent jazz becoming more popular than it is, Mosaic's prospects don't look bright. In the short term they're probably fine but the long term outlook is negative. If they were a stock, they'd be classified as a "sell" and definitely "underperforming."
  7. Wonderful albums!
  8. Just started this a few days ago. Stopped watching the series with Colin Firth until I've finished the book.
  9. Thanks. Will be ordering it morning.
  10. Based on Ghost's article in the other thread, the future looks bleak other than in the short term. I better get the MJQ set pretty soon, which is running low anyway.
  11. Years ago Kendrys Morales -- El Cubano -- did get hurt when he played for the Angels.
  12. This is truly an amazing novel about the Vietnam War, that touches so many themes: the end of the War, Vietnamese in American society, commentary about American culture, being a mole (spying) and finding one's place. It's not for nothing it won a Pulitzer.
  13. I just retired. Takes a little getting used to.
  14. I have had a couple of people ask me if Judge is juicing. I hope not but his stats have changed drastically since the minors. He will quiet these claims by doing it again next year.
  15. Disc 1, one of my favorite Mosaics.
  16. Never did get the Nelson but don't regret it either.
  17. I listened to the set intermittently over the last couple of months and by the time I reached the end, the set had begun to wear on me, particularly disc 11 and 12 (Katz, Mance and Cobb). This is a broad generalization but a lot of sameness.
  18. Unfortunately, it's a sign of today's athletes, prevalently seen in football, which started it all.
  19. Not me. Having lived in Spain, I was rooting for Muguruza.
  20. They'd have to pay me to watch it.
