Glad I don't live in Texas. Amen, if he signs with the Yanks, he better get some crotch protection next time Yanks show up in Texas.

What debt? You're implying he breached his contract with the Rangers. If he had, do you think the Rangers would have paid him? The Rangers fulfilled their covenants and obligations under the contract and Lee fulfilled his. Moreover, there is no such thing as a moral debt. He pitched to the best of his ability, thereby fulfilling his obligations under the contract. The contract terminated of its own accord and that is the end of that.

I'm reducing the price on this to $175. If interested, please contact me. Larry, would love to make a copy but I'm advertising it as mint so no copies

I agree with you about Jeter, Rivera and Pettite. That's what every athlete should aspire to. I know I rag on the Yanks but I do hope Lee signs with them. I just saw an article in the Times saying that the Rangers have oil money behind them. If those two people ante up, that could spell trouble for NY unless they can somehow NY is the place to be. I kind of think that sells itself but it doesn't sound like the case here. Long term, I think he's better off here, especially ifche considers the number of titles he could win.

What did Hank say? I've always liked Hal: he doesn't make a lot of headlines but goes about his business quietly. Hank is more like George. I assume Cashman is left generally alone. If not, then I have to wonder about the thought processes. They do have capable pitching without Lee and maybe the new pitching coach can turn things around.

I don't know most of the albums on the list and there are some that wouldn't appeal to me like the Byrd but I have a copy of the Coleman and that is definitely worth getting.

I was a never huge Lennon fan as a solo artist but feel the same way about McCartney. Harrison is a different story. They were all greater as the Beatles than the sum of their parts.
-
Didn't know that. I thought it was the other way around. Not a big fan of extended drum solos myself
-
1965 is a bit extreme. I have never been a huge Cashman fan and he bungled the Jeter negotiations, leaving Jeter ticked off. You can lay the Lee situation at his doorstep also. Never understood why Stick didn't stick around unless it was voluntary

Seven years for pitchers is, indeed, nuts but it shows that they believe that they need him to fight off the Sox. I assume they will get an insurance policy.

If I had the Mythic Sounds box, that would be my answer too. But since I don't I will go with the Blakey Mosaic.

I'm selling my copy of the Tristano, Konitz and Marsh Mosaic. The first two Cds were listened to but not the other four. Everything is in mint condition. Asking $220 but will listen to reasonable counters. Will ship overseas. US shipping is $9. Please contact me if interested.

You can say who knew but he was probably made to appear the fool for PR purposes, not to mention being overshadowed by the others or allowed to solo, except once or twice.

I think it's a great move for the Sox and I do love the fact that the Yankees will now be desperate to get Lee. Can't wait to hear the Yankees fans wailing today on WFAN. This move must make Lee's agent jump for joy. However, as Dan noted, winning the title is no lead pipe cinch. Red Sox ownership must have deep pockets, what with buying Liverpool a couple of months ago.

Goooooooooooooooooooooooooool

Wow, Real really got their head handed to them. That's unbelievable. -
I don't agree that the Yankees haven't handled it well. The one who seem to be making the quixotic statements is Jeter's agents. We all seem to think the Yankees should pay him this or that but it's easy to hand out money when it's not yours. The Yankees have paid umpteen amounts of money in the past because of his age and his future performance prospects. They're looking at that through the same eyes again and $15 million for a 36 year old ss, with diminishing tools, is not too shabby. The problem is he would like to get something like Arod money, which isn't going to happen, and he's boxed himself in, with the Yankees probably not budging, because they hold all the marbles. As a face saving measure I could see them adding a fourth year as an option. He would have to come back with a competing offer for them to budge. Until then...

The father made emotional decisions because he loved the limelight. The sons (particularly Hal) strike me as a bit more hardnosed and more number and cents oriented. I really can't see Jeter signing anywhere else but it wouldn't surprise me either. Nothing does any more.

In today's Times they reported he is asking, reportedly for $24 to $25 a year for five. The reporter noted that a possible compromise might be 4 years at $19 a year. I don't think it's worth it but he has meant a lot to the franchise. On the other hand I thought we paid people in this society for future performance. If he gets a big payday, I need to have a conversation with my boss

I seem to remember that someone did this once, at least the offer anyway, but human nature, being what it is, not too many people will do this.
-
I tried that and when I was leaving they asked me if my name was Allen Lowe?
-
That's pretty impressive. Must be difficult to program that.
-
Sounds like things are getting ugly. Cashman told the Times that he's a free agent, meaning he can look elsewhere if he wants to and that's he's concerned about Jeter's age, etc. while Jeter's agent says he sees Jeter as Babe Ruth. As the Times said, that's the problem. The paper also notes this is taking time away from pursuing Lee.

Heard it on XM back in October. Cool stuff
-
Cashman said it's three years at 15 million per. A lot of posturing going on but it will get done. I'm sure the 15 isn't their final offer but just opening number.
