  1. Didn't know you were into Elvis
  2. The link isn't working. I get an error message that there's a bug in my Mozilla browser. Weird, since I'm using IE6... Same here.
  3. I have only the Jazz Masters of the 40s but it's an essential part of a bop library. A good companion piece is Gitler's From Swing to Bop. An indispensible book in my view.
  4. I haven't got the last 2 Dexters from SteepleChase so I'll be calling to get this and the 2 others. Mike, how do you know that the blurb is incorrect since so little info is given. Is there a bootleg or review copy out there?

    RVG question

Does True Blue fit in here or was that a Conn?
  6. I don't see how some of the records mentioned could be way out (unless swing is your only thing). Setting the Pace? Wouldn't think so, not with Dex. Joe Gordon? Huh. Eric Dolphy, Eric Kloss, Prince Lasha, yeah that I could see but I don't think Prestige put out that much stuff that I would consider really avant garde.
  7. Dude, when the Chuckster gets ahold of you, well, you don't want to know
  8. Yeah, he'll be operatic or whatever label Jim is working hard on these days as Mr. S. plows throught the post stratosphere.
  9. I find that to be a slow site quite often, more often than not.
  10. Agustin, I just sent you some additional details on the questions you had about the Dex box.
  11. It's in my head and that's a very dangerous plac
  12. I saw that this morning. I'd love to take a look at some of these meetings. I'm sure it'll be expensive.
  13. I just received this so I'll be spinning it tomorrow. Too bad not a lot of people have given views.
  14. Couldn't disagree more. Hank fits in perfectly there with the mood of this album. But to each his own. We've disagreed more and I expect we'll do it again.
  15. Good luck and congrats!
  16. I have Tete! in the cd version (31029) and the release date is 1987. Short Story (cd) is 1993.
  17. I noticed that Stefan is selling 3 volumes of the Bebop Revisited series that was issued by Xanadu. If you're into bop, this is an ABSOLUTE MUST! This is no drill. This series is that fantastic. Trust me, if you don't get these, you'll want to kill yourself. The pity is that these haven't been reissued on cd.
  18. yessirree, Street of Dreams is fantastic. One of Grant's best.
  19. I have to agree. I've never heard a bad Venus. I'm surprised that these don't have US distribution.
  20. I organize it alphabetically and also keep an alpha list of everything I buy. I think that's important so you what you have.
  21. Check this out from Soul Stream in response to a comment I made on a thread about Hank's Reach Out album: NO!!!!!! Grant Green's "I Want To Hold Your Hand" is absolute wonder. A lone Beatles cover done BEAUTIFULLY!!! Other than that, the titles are all straight ahead. One of the best organ albums ever made. GET THIS CD NOW!!!! Or forget about enjoying life.
  22. Isn't that the american system? Isn't that what drives this economy anyway?
  23. It is possible that you may be right. However, Mosaic's approach is complete and that's what they adhere to. Also, while not everything may be of interest to you or me, it may be of interest to others, especially researchers and teachers. Since this is probably the only time when the original Roulette masters may be available, it was a good idea to include everything in one issue.
  24. Does anybody have the Lonehill version. I'm curious as to how it sounds in light of the above discussion.
  25. Anatol, it is quite an honor to have you here and to finally solve the riddle of the "chronogical" spelling. This has been debate on these board before. Thanks to your wonderful efforts, I have been able to listen to much music that I would not otherwise have been able to.
