  1. No, I don't really care. I only feel bad for those little people who make their living at it. In the past, when I'd drive home at night and listen to the sports station, they might have a Rangers game and I'd groan. Now, without hockey it's nice not to have listen to that, except when they have on a Nets game.

FWIW, there's about 3 or 4 auctions going now in the UK for Basra at what seems reasonable prices. It's probably the RVG.
  3. I haven't heard of this particular scam but I have heard of the Nigerian scam.
  4. I'll be buying the new one today. The sound from what I remember seemed ok but not spectacular.
  5. It's gone. Woodymaggie (Pete) from the old board purchased it. I don't have this but I remember awhile ago Weizen commenting when he mentioned that he ordered the Vanguard Sessions something to the effect that he was happy to get these instead of from the old box.
  6. Here´s the JazzVines Yahoo group, Brad. Quite a few interesting shows now circulating... though Dan is right, and there´s a lot of free impro/avant-garde/whatever at this moment... http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/JazzVines/ Thanks EKE BBB and Dan, I sort of get it now. Ok, is this vine still open. If so, I'll check it out. If not, probably not.
  7. That would be this (courtesy of Jazzmatazz): Lou Donaldson - Say It Loud (Water 143) — remastered reissue of 1968 Blue Note album; with Blue Mitchell, Jimmy Ponder, Charles Earland and Leo Morris Jack McDuff - Who Knows What Tomorrow's Gonna Bring? (Water 144) — remastered reissue of 1970 Blue Note album; with Randy Brecker, Ola Dara, Dick Griffin, John Pierson, Ray Draper, Joe Beck, Paul Griffin, Tony Levin, Donald McDonald, Mike Mainieri
  8. I wrote to Mosaic asking what the status on shipping the Pepper was and they told me they were waiting for the Hill to come in and they said it just came in today and they're going to start shipping soon!
  9. I think the version on Morgan's DIZZY ATMOSPHERE came about a month earlier (Feb. '57) Close but no cigar
  10. I haven't checked ebay in a while but there are over 27,000 auctions going. I could remember when there were 5,000. I find it impossible to use it to browse anymore. It's only good if you have something specific in mind.
  11. Thanks for doing the research that I was too obviously lazy to do

Maybe a poor choice of his words but since he's getting royalties, what right does he have to object to the title or release. None, I believe. It should come our over his objections.
  13. I think Steinbrenner might object and he does blow his own horn and when the Yanks lose, he does get Blue but maybe Freddie Mitchell can cheer him up.
  14. Six Views of the Blues is obviously the blues, with some by his creation plus the St. Louis Blues. Cecil Payne is on this. Yeah, that took me by surprise. One of my favorite Jimmy Smith albums. This one doesn't get a whole lot of attention, circa 1958. Rescued from the vaults thank god.
  15. I have no idea of what you guys are talking about: torrents and vines? Is all this material on Birds Eyes or is this extra and if so, how do I get a copy?
  16. From my research that looks correct. A close second might be on Birks Works from 1957.

Well, this one takes the cake. I have the Spanish BN and am not even wild about it. Anybody want it? But a couple of people have made the argument of why does the artist get to call the shots. He just has a right to receive royalties. If he had the foresight to retain rights, well hats off to him. But I doubt he retained those rights. You think anyone would care if this came out as Basra. Just do it, and screw Mr. Sims. That's just crazy.
  18. Unfortunately, I need to raise some cash to offset some of my purchases and I'm going to have to part with this set. I got this through Hiroshi so you know it's in mint condition. This is a 21 Record set, with a book that is near mint to mint condition, plus a Keynote photograph album and a 45 of Lennie Tristano. This recently went on Ebay for $350 with a buy it now so I'm looking for a fair price. Shipping will be in the $8-10 range I expect but if the offer is good, I may waive it. If interested, please pm me. I won't be available tomorrow until the evening so I'll get back to you then. Thanks.

  20. No Brad .... they ship according to your membership number ... the lower the number the greater the privileges you get! Mine is #1293 ... what's yours?? Dunno but it must be rapidly sinking
  21. I guess they must have shipped them by preorder priority first and since I didn't order until about a week or so ago, I guess that explains it.
  22. I'm just conveying the news. Don't kill the messenger, Mr. S
  23. I just called Mosaic today and they said the Selects should be in shortly. They apparently have not yet arrived.
  24. Hmm. Mine hasn't gotten here yet. I'm about to call Mosaic.
  25. You guys are kidding about Welk, right? My grandmother used to listen to that garbage and I couldn't take it even then. And a one, and a two and ....
