I've yet to be able to find it. I'd like to hear it. -
That one I kinda liked, actually. Now, INVENTIONS AND DIMENSIONS as SUCCOTASH, that was kinda wierd.

I just got an e-mail from the Commisioner! We deeply regret the appalling incident that occurred during halftime celebrations at the Super Bowl yesterday. For 40 years and more our league has been tantalizing our fans with partial views of women's breasts. We have been committed to showing cleavage and, failing that, the outline of women's breasts on our cheerleaders, in the commercials of our sponsors, the silhouettes of our network sideline reporters and the crowd shots by our network broadcast teams - to titillate and to fill downtime. We have hoped that our viewers would discuss women's breasts and imagine women's breasts, speculate on their authenticity, ponder nipple color and size, daydream of seizing those spongy masses and twisting them this way and then that way, of burying one's face in them like a spaniel at the dinner bowl. Above all, we have hoped that our viewers will associate women's breasts with the National Football League. But we never meant to show you the whole thing. We sincerely regret that our half-century long tease overshot its mark yesterday. We urge our viewers to forgive us, and to continue to content themselves with veils and innuendo in our future seasons. P. S. And no pussy. Ever. Quite. Sincerely, Paul Tagliabue NFL Commissioner Wow, he really DOES care!

I think there was/is a Dewey Square, but where I cannot share, because the "aware" is not "there".

On the A-section, yeah, but not on the bridge. The bridge is something else entirely. I've long maintained (w/o any "support" that I'm aware of) that "Yardbird Suite" is really "Rosetta" with an extra passing chord or two thrown in, and a bridge that goes to ABOUT the same places, but not literally so. I threw this out to David Baker at an Aebersold clinic back in 1979 or so, and he was skeptical at first, but I naively/presumptuously challenged him to "check it out, man, CHECK IT OUT!" So, this being an "educational environment" and all, we found a piano, he did an A/B, and said, "hmmmm....I see what you mean". But that's the closest to "official" validation as I've gottened.

Ain't nuthin' but a number.

The back of the box (or as Paul Harvey would say, "the REST of the story!" You used to be able to buy records off of Kleenex boxes too. I remember Harry Ja,es did a cpmmercia; plugging them.

I think it says "Dixie".

I'm not worried - sometimes a reissue is just a reissue... -

Simple - that was then, this is now. What was good then was good, but life goes on, things change, and doing something good now is more important to me than attempting to recreate a Camelot that may or may not have been illusory in the first place, and right here right now right on is working for me just fine, thank you very much. I'm loyal to ideals, not brand names. Same goes for the music itself, even moreso (yalldonthearmenow ) -
It's a fine record indeed, but I don't know what this AMG bizness about "relocation from Cuba" is - both Palmieris were born and raised in NYC, and both forged their careers there!

Original changes, as far as I know.

Look like the package comes with a bonus CD .... the Wheaties Blindfold Test? You, sir, are one for paying attention, aren't you?

So, like, are we all supposed to not post again until March 6? Is that the idea?

That's a bummer about the Showtime page. What's the point? But yeah, strong kudos for Penn & Teller's show as well as Chappelle's, which is nothing short of brilliant, at least at this point in the game. Chappelle has always had a rep as a "comedian's comedian". Based on the portions of his previous standup work I've seen, I wondered why all the fuss. But the CC show shows the raves of his peers to be more than well founded, as well as driving home the point that standup is but one kind of humor, and not necessarily the best fit for all performers. The guy is truly smart and truly funny, and he doesn't downplay one to accent the other. My kinda guy.

Why would anybody want to go back to a "Blue Note Board", European or otherwise? Fuck Blue Note (the corporate entity, that is). -
At Dusty Groove (the bastards!) http://www.dustygroove.com/latincd.htm#80364 Cachao -- Cuban Jam Session In Miniature -- Descargas . . . CD . . . $16.99 Vampi Soul (Spain), Late 50's Condition: New Copy Landmark recordings from the Cuban scene of the late 50s -- free-jamming descarga sessions led by bassist Israel "Cachao" Lopez! The tunes on the set forever helped define the sound of Latin music -- breaking down the more restrictive styles of earlier years, and giving the players free reign to jam and improvise over tightly crafted rhythmic patterns. Apart from Cachao's great work on bass, the set also features tenor by Emilio Penalver, trumpet by Armando Armenteros, and trumpet by Alejandro Vivar -- on titles that include "Descarga Cubana", "Sorpressa De Flauta", "Pamparana", "Trombon Criollo", "Controversia De Metales", and "Guajeo De Saxos". This CD adds in a huge amount of extra tracks, too -- for a total of 23 numbers in all! I've not heard this CD, so I can't comment on the quality of the transfers or the nature of the "extra tracks", but as a long-time admirer of the original PanArt album, I feel safe in recommending this disc on the strength of those selections alone. Classic stuff.

They used to be called "milk bottles", now they're called "doorbells". Time marches on.

Yeah, even if all the surface noise destroys the concept...
