  1. Went for some Japanese CD reissues: Roland Hanna, Sir Elf Sonny Clark Memorial Quartet, Voodoo Yosuke Yamashita Trio, Montreux Afterglow Tyrone Washington, Roots
  2. A lot of my exploration of "modern" jazz winds up in that period. I don't have much background, buy a lot of used recordings, and often try to build up some kind of base rather than chasing after the very newest releases. Some purchases (e.g. NoBusiness) are archival-type releases of familiar names. But my erudition is not sufficient (either depth or breadth) to post on threads, so I mainly lurk.
  3. It is (or will be?). Dusty Groove shows both LP and CD expected on 24 March.
  4. W. Seneca, NY (near Buffalo):
  5. I got e-mail today informing me that only 2 of 11 ordered titles were in-stock. Andrea kindly offered the option of substitution or refund. I went for substitution. What the heck, most of my selections were shots in the dark anyway.
  6. I liked the clip I listened to, but somewhat dread hearing Dazed and Confused. Hope it's not a Zeppelin cover. 🤨

    Herbie Hancock

Published an autobiography back in 2014. Pretty high-profile, I got the impression it sold decently...Skimmed through it in a bookshop but didn't purchase.
  8. I figured that @$1.50 per disc I can deal with (and even expect) weirdness. 😄 For instance, went for the strange-looking Bang! by Roberto Zorzi because of the sidemen (Berne, Feldman, Robertson, Previte). The Einstein's Cosmic Messengers DVD looks interesting (I'm a science buff), but I doubted DVDs were included in the offer so didn't think to include it.
  9. I also went for the offer, ordered 11, most recognizable Crispell and the 6 Lol Coxhill titles. No idea about the fill rate...website implies out-of-stock items are produced on demand (CD-R?), but not sure that'll apply to the sale. Certainly no beef with CD-R at these prices. Granted none of these really qualify as new releases, but it's a step...
  10. I ordered this from interlibrary loan, might take a while.
  11. John, I kind of regret having overposted sleuthings to the thread. And this particular ID was Jim's work (kudos to him). But since you asked 😉, spoiler here.
  12. 👍🤣 Had to consult Google Lens, was all "WTF!?", but then it sunk in.
  13. Yes, the label is Improvising Artists. Mentioned above in thread that I ordered the autobiography Stopping Time through interlibrary loan, and the copy I got (only one available) came from the Cherry Valley Library. Found that surprising (it's a really small town) until I finished the book (C. V. was mentioned). I wondered whether any of the family still lived there. I visited C. V. a couple of times years ago, but had no idea of the Bley connection.
  14. Agree with the underlined. I searched interlibrary loan in vain for the Cappelletti book, but there are other jazz books I'd prefer to purchase. I don't pay much attention to Amazon reviews, but have limited appetite for "Euro academic" material.
  15. Can't say. The Meehan is on my "to read" list but I can't find a copy. Autographed copy @$100 offered on Improvising Artists website, but I suspect the page/site is not active. I considered the Cappeletti, but it's really short and got a couple of s**t reviews on Amazon (a "Euro academic" tag discouraged me), so I decided not to spend $.
  16. There's a book of interviews (probably difficult to find) and what looks to be a biography
  17. Wouldn't be surprised if that timing thing was just a typo on the original release. There seems to be a bit of a Charles Stepney connection running through this BFT, and he did play vibes, but I don't think he could have been involved with #11.
  18. In that case, B1 here? Credit to Randy for the spot. This is just follow-up via discogs. Weirdly, the track was only 5:15 long on the original release? At least according to discogs. Longer 5:56 on the 1996 reissue and subsequently.
  19. Dub Modal ID'd 13 as Callier's Alley Wind Song, but no album.
  20. Clicking on the link doesn't do anything. Going to thomkeith.net, I don't see a "music" tab.
  21. RIP, sad news. Big fan of the Reservoir label. Didn't know Dr. Feldman personally (live a bit far from Kingston to have met him, although he was likely in the audience at some shows I attended), but own many Reservoir titles and had a few e-mail conversations regarding orders and catalog.
  22. #10 is A3 here.
