stereo/mono on the same cd
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez's topic in Audio Talk
hi everybody! chewy-chew-chew-post originator back here: jazz has never sounded good in stereo. i hate the cymbals tink-tink-tinking away in one corner and the sax playing in the other. the one i know to embrase stereo effectivly was Esqueviel, who was a genius. -
they do "allens alley", "52nd Street Theme" and all total i think six sides. the guy wanted like 4 bucks for it. it was pretty beat but they would of probably played "ok". has anyone heard this stuff. should i go back and get it next week. but instead i bought a '71 Life Mag. w/ cybill on the cover and another one w/ a giant flu bug on the cover, and then i found a third w/ catherine deneuve, so i had 2 get it. are bean and don byas mad at me. how do you guys rate this 78rpm set, or any re-issued version thereof...?

while the stereo bn masters have been remasted an on cd forever etc etc the mono masters are rotting, are they not? why dont they do, say DIPPIN', and have a cd w/ the mono AND stereo versions. what about the earlier stuff that can surely fit on one cd? has this ever been considered?

dont be a sucker- LA's been picked clean of "rare" lps since the early 70s and the leftover from 30 yrs later is what youre seeing in these stores. if you want the true LA record expierence u need to go to this one Mexican run thifty store- thrifty stores are different than thrift stores: at a thrifTY store there are no price tags and all the merch. is on the floor in giant piles. well anyways last time i was there buried beneth a giant stack of 3rd rate quality 1980s pornography magazines, was 1 box of records but THEY WERE ALL 78S INCLUDING ***TWELEVE*** AMOS MILBURN ALADDIN RECORD 78, and Ernie Andrews on alladin jazz series 78, and a sealed copy of the 'Caresouel' movie snd'trk. (not jazz but wanted 2 mention), and BEST OF ALL A 78 on "RECORDED IN HOLLYWOOD" AND LIKE ONE SIDE IS SOME CHICK SINGING AN R&B SONG AND THE OTHER SIDE IS LIKE RED CALLENDAR AND HIS SEPTET DOING SOMETHING THATS BEBOP. OH HELL YEAH.

oh shucks i dunno who would be the most likely alzhemiers case latter in life for jazz arrangers, i dunno what about that one who was hired by kenton who held his pants up with a string of rope and arranged on graph paper w/ coloured pencils and only ate bananas and had a mustache

jazz wikipedia sez he has parkinsons disease and doesnt play anymore. that sux!! how did just a sharp jazz mind get parkinsons anyway. that is nutz. out of all the arrangers i would immagine to get parkinsons he is definetly at the bottom of the list

hi chewy-chew-chew here to lend a helping hand in declaring that peggy lee is one ripe tomato!!!!!!!! that record is that all there is-- is that tragic story true and really happened, or is it just part of the song. her early 78s are good too but what really gets me is that latin a la lee and the later stuff -

hi everybody chewy-chew-chew here 2 tell u that i NEVER have seen that lp ANYWHERE or i would of checked it out and probably bought it if it was under $2.99. thats my capper price for regional northwest jazz lps anyway. my cappers larger for regional country and garage rock beacuse they have a better northwest music track record.
