k u guys gotta hear abt this, i saw "network trio" feat. Pharaoh Sanders. stanley jordan (piano, gtr) / Charnett Moffett (bs) / Tain Watts (ds). i really did not have a good experience. Pharaoh sounded amazing but the SET WAS ALL FUNK, and towards the end they did a piece which completely lost all continuity, i mean i was lost. SJ played mostly piano / gtr AT THE SAME TIME.....is he tapping, is that what his thing is? well he was tappin w/ the left hand and chords on the piano w/ the rt. so he sat at the piano the whole show like that. the closest thing i can compare this concert to, i guess, is that Pharaoh Sanders meets the latin jazz qt lp on "trip"......totally random. i would go so far, forgive me i know theyre good dudes, in that band, but it was almost to me disrespectful, that they wouldnt have done at least one of Pharaoh's many special songs, when they have this great amazing musician in the band. even though i wasnt diggin any of the beats, when pharaoh soloed, it was magic, + i was thinkin abt goin back later tonite just for that. but i mean he was just a sideman more or less in this ensemble, it was so strange. ------------------------ heres the best part: the best part was when i got to hear and then see a little of pharoah practicing after the show in the hallway by the bathrooms, until some dumb girl came up and was all: 'oooo thats the best intro to the bathroom ive ever had tee hee', and interrupted him and i was all: !!!! but thats the ultimate sign of greatness, practicing after the concert. a sign of true genius

k i passed on this when it came even though i love VB and Ramsey Lewis, tix were in the 50+ range and i saw VB on a latenite over the air show a wk prior, he sounded like completely different, i think....of course Sun Goddess, one of the greatest records in fusion, Lewis has been touring RL Electric Band "sungoddess tour" a few yrs ago, i saw it twice, was very good although RL really only played a teeny tiny bit of rhodes the whole set, everything was g. piano but sun goddess title track sounded great, the bass player did the vocal.

great pics dawg, saw him in nov.- my 1st time seein him since he was 58 yrs old. now hes 74. thats a long time. its really weird, after such a long wait, now comming up again, next month, it appears hes going to be back as a "special guest" of an electric trio....stanley jordan, charnett moffet playing electric bs, and tain watts. any of you know of this collaboration? every time ive ever seen him its been w/ his own acoustic band....im definetly goin....

if i was the high bidder, i would of won a freaking Plastylite test pressing of jackie mclean JACKKNIFE w/ lee morgan + charles tolliver, my hb was only 150, i think it went for 152. 153 would not of been bad to pay for one of the worlds only vangelder stamped jacknifes. Saw Carmell Jones during that time in Europe. He played at Club 43 Manchester with a local trio. god i cant believe ive never seen this, seems like this would of turned up by now.....non vangelder stamped prestige, ive seen these prestige presents MPS issues w/ the initials inscribed with a box drawn around him, DBH i believe.....not Vangelders, theyre done by someone else. other us prestige have the same initials too, from that period, i wonder who it was. -

so i guess the stereo vers. of "jazz of two cities".....is not impossibly expensive and/or rare. didnt really know this. multiple songs are complete other takes, as compared to the earlier mono counterpart. (this one relesed later, both not at same time). im not spinnin now. it arrives tmw. the other trks are the same takes as the mono, i guess they are in real stereo, i hope. this might even be better than the mono cause on the mono i know certain takes are edited eg. the solo from 1 into another.....now that i have this all i need is ted brown-freewheeling, it'll turn up eventually.... -

k i dont usu delve into these sort of random x-vs.x. threads, but since this is the jazz board i where i usu talk about jazz, i thought it would be fun to share how one of the greatest live rock & roll performances ive ever seen, up there with ELP 1996 and The Who 2000....was....The Monkees 2013. nesmith was amazing but it was mickey, who completely stole the show. mickey as a r&r lead singer is up there with daltrey and such, im telling you. it was insane. it was one of the most uptempo 1million m.p.h concerts ive ever seen, start to finish-

crazy lee morgan lp from Brazil
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez's topic in Artists
for sound quality, of course- but the lp itself, thats pretty rare dawg- lps from brazil are all nuts like this, for example in rock music, many popular albums were released in Brazil in monofonico well into the early 70s. abbey road and stand up are two ive considered buying -
