fri i saw--- MAGMA. they were amazing. vocally they could be the greatest progressive rock band of all time, perhaps....the music was from another world. the original member is the drummer, who was pretty much a jazz, or jazz-rock if you will, drummer-, his wife Stella Vander who joined in 1973, is a french pop legend in her own right with a recording carreer going back 52 yrs and was the MVP of the all around incredible ensemble. they said it was their 1st trip the the USA since 1999.... sat i saw---FLEETWOOD MAC. had same seat as for last year shows, front row hard stage rt. however last nt in canada it was actually the most intimate arangement yet, im talking abuot the distance from seat-to-stage. every arena although shaped the same, all are really different and so the stage fits in them different ways. John McVie literally walked right next to the aisle when he decended the stage stairs. i was inches away from both McVies the entire show. i made a big effort not to focus on Lindsey at all, god i cant stand Lindsey.....Christine sounded incredible, so happy to hear her since her tunes one more time. so ive caught the tour now in CA OR WA + British Columbia......maybe they are going on never-ending tour, will they be back in fall?????

Mundell Lowe / Bucky Pizzarelli / John Pisano all star gtr summit,- best jazz show ive seen in a long while, it was amazing. their tone is so pure and you can hear the pluck of the strings almost, i love their sound. it was a real guitar jam, w/ someone rockin a lead while others did rhythm, 2 rhythm, it was really great

i wish they were pluggin a different product, i mean spinal surg is such a serious subject, and i dont understand why spinal surg even needs to advertise, it really seems like it should be more private. i mean if u need spial surg, yr gonna get in contact w. who you need to. i wish the hosp. would but that production / air time cash, into spinal surg resarch and equipment....dont get me wrong its cool it features george coleman, and i hope gc jr is ok, but i mean the ad is real heavy. -

How is it? I'm tempted with the LP version of that one. good heavy vinyl, its pretty quiet, or quiet enough-- definitely a great piece -

theres a lot of margins of error in something like this, 1st of all it is about CD sales, and thus they are concluding from that- jazz is least popular genre in US..... .....jazz is believe it or not, a genre of music primarily intended for vinyl format, so most ppl who really like jazz, arent buying cds anyway. jazz isnt the least popular genre, all u can conclude is that jazz cd sales are in the toilet, but all cd sales are in the toilet...

again, this is so much better than the pac jazz orig. ive not found too many uk or european versions like this but i have a few and theyre all amazing. i have this esquire or something pressing of Paul Chambers delegation from the east on JazzWest-- it sounds better most originals. its all in the quality of the vinyl, and the covers look way better too as well. i have lots of these in rock/pop, but not in jazz. the only drawback is they are not as indestructible like the US versions, i cant just plop them in one of my many record piles. they vinyl is fragile as glass on some of them, i have them in a special area -

i wonder how coltrane got in on this one, him at donald byrd recorded a lot that yr, rt? (this was rec 12/57). it seems to be a good sounding recording, i like the sound of blakeys cymbals on this (stereo Bethlehem, blue label) really weird though, its like an art blakey solo project, away from the jazz mesgrs. now i have to get that blue note art blakey big band lp. that ones going to be hard to find. isnt there a liberty reissue of that? might have that one.....
