  1. I thought about Nate Wooley when first listening to track 9 but after your comments, I think it might be. If so, a very fine album. It looks like I have 5 or 6 of these albums so far but only recognized 2 or 3. Not a good percentage.
  2. So, Track 7 is not my favorite overall but that is a pretty darn good drummer. I was liking Track 8 ok and then “yikes”, I normally at least get a smile out of these kind of vocals but this one not so much. For some reason I liked Track 9 a lot more than the earlier one. I'm not sure if I would like an entire solo album but this was very interesting. Track 11. Now you are talking. Nothing bad about this. Liked the cello and bass. Track 12. Great ending piece. Of coarse the von Schlippenbach Trio comes to mind but you wouldn't be that obvious, would you? Hopefully this get an ID before the end of the month. Favorite track along with #1 and the Clusone Trio. By the by, track 1 inspired me to hear some Joe McPhee this morning. Listening to “Oleo” and what do you know.
  3. This link worked great, thanks. I listened a little while doing the stationary bike this morning and liked what I heard. A couple comments. Track 1 for me is a winner right out of the box. The horn player on the left and the over all feel of the piece say Joe McPhee to me. I get a spiritual feeling from some of his music. I'm not a church goer anymore but I like to listen to Joe McPhee on Sunday mornings. Track 2. First of all, I had to turn up the volume and listen a second time. Subtly and very pretty stuff. I have listened to this album so many times that I knew Track 3 immediately. I'd rather be a hammer than a nail and outside of Walt Dickerson, I'd rather listen to the Clusone Trio than anybody. Any track from this album would be great on a BFT. I'll just say that Track 4 is nice playing. The drummer is the best part of Track 5 for me. Track 6. I was thinking this is ok and then the percussion came in and for me it hit another gear. I like this very much. Later.
  4. I got a phony malware warning.
  5. I think that Diamond Curtain Wall Quintet is playing at Duke University sometime toward the end of Feb. also.
  6. Well, the more adventurous is my style as well and I enjoyed your last BFT, so please count me in.
  7. Thanks for the fun listen, Alex. I'm not good at putting my thoughts on music into words but I did really like quite a number of these tracks. I have a hard time not liking a version of “St. Louis Blues” or “Dr. Jazz” but the ones you've presented are obviously top shelf. Not much more can be said about that. Without going through everything while I write, I would say my favorite tracks are 20 through 23. I'm normally not a real vocal fan but track 20 was great. I'm really not in these BFTs to try for IDs but even a poser like me could recognize some things here. One note, I had a version of track 3 (I think) that was by David Grisman with Stephane Grappelli on my last BFT. That violin sure does sound familiar. Good track.

  11. Have and like it! Esp. Sun Ra's piano playing. Thanks everyone. I am keen to hear the 1960's stuff first, so will try to get "Lawrence" and "Unity". So, I agree with the SteepleChase comments. But if you are looking to the 1960's, consider "To My Queen", which I think is his most creative 1960's album. Plus you get a pretty good dose of Andrew Hill which is never bad. Plus to me the vibes/bass duet track kind of shows where his later style is going.
  12. I go with a 1 on your survey only because you don't have any lower numbers. Which is why I would like to have a listen. A download would be great, thanks.
  13. So, please forgive me if this has been previously been asked and answered; Any chance "People In Sorrow" might get a reissue?
  14. If you're still looking for it I have a copy I can sell you. Listened to it once. $18 shipping included. I have an order pending with Subterranean but thanks.
  15. Thanks. Never used them but I will give it a try.
  16. Any suggestions on where to buy the new ICP?
  17. My first piece of new vinyl in over twenty years. Man, there is something about a record.
  18. Thanks for the plug Clifford. I will get back to the PMs this morning. Thanks guys.
  19. So, if the Good Lord's willing and the creek don't rise we are moving to North Carolina at the end of the month. I would like to sell the following so I don't have to move them. 20. Yes, thanks for your efforts.
  21. Sadly, living in Nebraska, I don't get to join this conversation often. I got to see the Wayne Shorter Quartet tonight. Yeah!
  22. I've had some good music days this week and got to listen to your first 21 tracks one time through, several times for some tracks. Some really interesting stuff and some strong bass playing. I got by my natural impulse to check out the Ids by simply taking off my bifocals. All a blur to these old eyes. For me track 3 was an incredibly beautiful piece of music. Don't know how the bass made all those sounds. I listen on an mp3 player but this one needs to be heard with greater fidelity. I am pretty sure that I will cheat and see who it is before months end. Got to know. I think I know the vibes guy on track 11, probably my favorite of the “younger” guys. If not, someone else I need to know about. The last track is another beautiful piece. Nice ending. Not much for comments but I will be away from the computer most of the month and I wanted to make sure I acknowledged your efforts. I will have my mp3 player with me, so I will be listening to all your BFT material some more. Thanks for the traveling music.
  23. I would love to hear your BFT. However,my month is setting up such that I will probably not get back to the comment part. If that is ok, may I get a download. Thanks.
