LF Ahmad Jamal - Live in Paris 92
dsgtrane replied to Bright Moments's topic in Offering and Looking For...
That seems like a fair description of what occurred. PS-Somewhere there's a postal worker grooving to Jamal as we type. -
How about "Jurassic Park". You'll think a t-rex is in the room with you.

Glad to be of assistance. So what kind of feedback did you leave the seller? -

I've got GNU HIGH. PM me if you still need it. -
Ditto! They're much better live than the CD.

LF: LP jackets for 'progressive' BN 60's dates...
dsgtrane replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Offering and Looking For...
How about trying to pick up the BN album cover books. There's a bunch of LP size pages that could be removed and displayed. -
I've done some looking around myself and it does look like CDUniverse has it the cheapest. I was going to get it at Borders with a 15% coupon I have, but their price is $129 to begin with. Guess I can wait a day or two and get it for $99 with shipping! Just ordered a set from CDUniverse. I found nothing even close after looking around either.

I still have AUTOBAHN and RALF AND FLORIAN from my college years. Used to love listening to them on my old Koss headphones in the dark. Been many a year since I last heard 'em.

Which Lee Morgan CD/LP Are You Enjoying Right Now?
dsgtrane replied to Soulstation1's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I just picked this up used on CD (titled "The Last Session"). Really liked it despite the e-piano. Would have been fascinating to have seen where he would have taken this had he lived. -
I realize. Probably one myself. Thinking of preordering but was hoping to find it cheaper.
-
Is that the best price out there?
-
Just ordered one. Price is $35+shipping.

Actually, I thought it was a great last 15 minutes or so. Rest of the game was BORING. What ever happened to my Penn State team?

I'm a big Hicks fan. Saw him in July with Sonny Fortune and got to talk to him a bit after the show. Real nice guy. Bought a couple of CDs from him and had him autograph them. Don't have this one (the Blakey) but sure would love a copy.

Ditto. Off to a crappy start in Pittsburgh.

Hurricane Frances check-in
dsgtrane replied to connoisseur series500's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Was without power from Saturday until Friday. My backyard, courtesy of Frances. -
I've got a CDR of "Mary Lou's Mass". I assume you've seen "Black Christ of the Andes". Not a mass but certainly religious. That came out on CD earlier this year.

Another vote for I

I've got a copy but will not be able to access it until after the weekend due to hurricane preparations. If you still need it next week, I'll be happy to burn a copy...if it hasn't blown away. -
Also: Ellington/Strayhorn GREAT TIMES! PIANO DUETS WITH BILLY STRAYHORN Ran Blake/Jaki Byard IMPROVISATIONS There were two Hancock/Corea albums, one for Polydor and one for Columbia. Marion McPartland recorded a number of here Piano Jazz sessions featuring other pianists. In addition, her album JUST FRIENDS features her in duets with a number of other pianists including Geri Allen, Dave Brubeck and George Shearing. Didn't Cecil Taylor and Mary Lou Willams also record together? I've never heard it although recall hearing it was strained (not surprising). For more than two pianos there's: Jazz Piano Quartet (Dick Hyman, Marian McPartland, Roland Hanna, Hank Jones) LET IT HAPPEN Piano Choir (Stanley Cowell, Harold Mabern and six others) HANDSCAPES and HANDSCAPES, VOL. 2
