Van Basten II replied to GA Russell's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Am not in a hurry, with all have the stuff coming from this thread plus other finds, I might not have the time until spring to listen to it -

Thank you very much. -
If you are looking for modern singers, Elisabeth Kontomanou is something special and worth listening.

Let me put it this way Messi is heads up the best futbol player on earth, however the title goes to the player who had the best 2010 year, he was not. And football being a collective sport it makes sense to reward players who were able to achieve great success within a team. And at this level, Barcelona had a very good year (semi-finalists in Champions League, Champions in La Liga )and Argentina underachieved. -
15 Songs You Didn’t Realize Were Covers

For a long time I thought Vieille canaille was a Gainsbourg original .It is actually a Louis Prima cover of You rascal you. And on the other hand when I heard for the first Aqua de março, I scrambled my mind for years , it was before the internet, to figure out where I heard that music before before finding out that I had heard the French version by George Moustaki. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=N7Wr8XndHAc -
Nice guitar work, the singer has a nice voice plus with subtle modern elements, overall a great album.

thank you, that helps, will have a look on Robert Glasper, too, never heard of him, are you familiar with aaron parks? Again, read something about him, but have not heard his music...... I reported on a Aaron Parks gig I saw two years ago http://www.organissi...66&#entry932066 Think of it you might put into your check list, John Escreet very impressive pianist , very modern. thank you again, hope you are not related to this terrible football-player "van Basten".....;-) (he kicked us out of european championship some days ago.....) Am afraid to say that's from him I got my name, he is one of my favourite footbal player of all time, too bad I barely saw him in action, Football coverage in the early 80s in Canada was rather spotty.

Yes and no, in a World Cup year, you'd expect them to name a player who had more of an impact in the main competition. Of course it does not take away his phenomenal abilities. -

Bought the most recent one called 24 hours in the life of Nova, each CD represents an hour and music you hear at that time if I had an iPod that stuff would be on it. Here's the track listing. For whatever reason the track list mentionned at Amazon France is not correct. Anyway any set that includes Duke Ellington, LCD soundsystem, A tribe called Quest, Cheikh Lo and Nina Simone is doing all right by my standards http://www.discogs.c...release/2552526 On the less eclectic side of things as it focuses more on dancing music although it still covers a wide range from House, Hip hop , trip-hop etc Nova offers in the same box set his first 10 Nova Tunes cds. http://www.amazon.fr...all_full#disc_1

They seem to have problems for orders from Europe to the other side of the pond, I had a package from France that took ages to arrive and I have some stuff from the UK that takes more time than usual. -
His last one Yesterday You Said Tomorrow was on my top ten of 2010. Great musician but probably not as good as he thinks he is. If you dig a guy like Robert Glasper you may enjoy his musical horizons.

Am suprised nobody has mentionned yet Godspeed You Black Emperor -
Have you tried Ian Rankin's novel with the inspector Rebus ? Although after reading a few ones you see some themes being revisited quite often, Carl Hiaasen's novels always are good to make me laugh

Watch for her project Coin Coin, they are recordings of it on the way. Great stuff.

Peter Herbolzheimer: Big Bad Man 4CD Set
Van Basten II replied to dova's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
The trick when you buy foreign is to buy plenty of stuff at the same time, it sweetens the deal shipping wise , of course you have to find enough interesting objets to do so. For the Americans interested on Amazon.com there is a seller Grooves inc which sells it a bit over 40 $ shipping included. -

The German Amazon does offer it at a nice price, however international shipping at 14 Euros makes it a no go. -
Problem with Amazon France

King Ubu I know that yesterday when I tried to make an order, they had some kind of problem and their system was not recognizing the adresses telling we never asked before to send package to the adress and we had to give them again all our details (Credit card), etc., probably a computer glitch. Did not have the problem when I registered my order sooner today -

They finally relented, ordered the same items for a slightly higher price (they have fluctuated a lot at some point it was 20 Euros more than I was paying originally) and they are supposed to send me the difference. Amusing thing the representative who finally settle it is called Amelie P., wonder if she looks like the original one. -
Ordered a few boxsets in mid-december one of them was real cheap when I ordered it, never received them when I used the function track the package it was stuck in Staufenberg since december the 23rd. Communicated with them to know what was going on , got an answer apologizing for the lost items and offered me a refund, answered them back that I'd rather have a new shipping of the items I ordered. Instead I received an email, telling me they were in the process of refunding me. When I told thm that I did want the items, got answered that they couldn't because some of the items were unavailable. It was false. I gave them the info and told me the refund was already processed so they couldn't do anything. They suggested to make a new order, however the price of the boxset has since been raised. Now here's my question am I within my rights and legitimized to ask that they sell me the items at the price I originally bought them ? I asked them once and they refused, now should I pursue these demands or should I drop it ?
