Here's another question, why is he still in charge of the Gunners ? -
I like a lot of singers, but Elisabeth Kontomanou left me rather cold after hearing one CD sent my way. I also pass on singer-songwriters being pushed by labels and publicists as "jazz." Of course, if you shop at Amazon, the jazz classification becomes worthless with the numerous, pop, new age and anything but improvising artists included by them. Which records did you listen, some of hers are a bit overproduced, Back to my groove, the one that is a Blue Note record a look alike is probably the one that fits her talents the best First of all, who cares if it's 'cool' or not? To thine own self, etc. and also Only Trust your Heart. At the end of the day, that's the only thing that matters

Among the hardcore fans, little do care about them (dead or alive), if I go to a concert starring a singer most of the crowd will be people you don't usually see at jazz events and almost none of the people that usually comes to jazz gigs. When Geri Allen came to town a few weeks ago, there was some excitement about her visit but when it was learned that she would be playing with Elisabeth Kontomanou, the excitement died down and the crowd showing up was mostly neophytes. A Esperanza Spalding will be ok because she's an instrumentalist., the other problem is that a lot of singers being showcased as jazz singers, are not really jazz singers (Norah Jones, Melody Gardot) The amusing thing is that bookers will push for singers to be showcased since they attract a bigger crown than the jazz aficionados who are a small minority which makes them hate the singers more.

The good guys didn't win but it was a hell of a game wednesday, kudos to Real for pulling it. Barcelona was horrible during the first half while Madrid was playing well. In the seceond the Catalan side got its groove back and were the best team however they kinda run on fumes at the end and then the Madrid side got over and got the big win in the overtime.. By the way for the Yanks reading this thread, the color commentator for Gol TV has to be the most annoying guy working with a mike nowadays, I have flashbacks of Bud Collins doing tennis commentary on NBC. -

First of the four game series between the Real and Barça was yesterday, the first 60 minutes were rather cagy with Madrid tightening up on defense but the last 15 minutes were quite exciting with both teams being shorthanded and more space on the pitch, you could say that the Catalans were the moral winners by not allowing their rivals to gain any ground in La Liga they still have a 8 points over their hated rivals. Next meeting wednesday with hardware to be obtained. -
And I guess none of the major parties running are going near this kind of stance

I did not know that, thought you had a similar constitution than us since you are using a constitutional monarchy that's why I figured out you were stuck with it. , then the question remains how do you change your parlementary system and do you really want to change it.
-
Well it would mean to change the constitution and I guess they prefer having a costly show from time to time than to go through the whole ordeal

Not to pile on, but this really does exemplify the confused reasoning you've displayed on this whole topic. The jurors did not acquit Bonds of anything. Period. They found him guilty on one of the counts and could not reach a verdict on the others. The end. If they had acquitted him, then there would be no discussion of whether or not to retry him on the same charges. Didn't one one of the characters in The Sopranos used this same type of justification when he got out of court without being convicted ?

2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs
Van Basten II replied to Jazzmoose's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
You know our country is seriously f...ed up when they move one of the political debates for the federal election so they are not being broadcasted at the same time than a Habs playoff game. I could understand if it was the freakin' final but the first game of the first round -

I'm sure they had an easier time figuring it out way back then than they would if they did it now. -

Yep, it was the only place that I could post a picture of Serena looking like a huge chewing gum or a Pepto Bismol bottle depending on how you feel about her. -
LF: pianists who should be corny but are not.

Apparently I don't because I never would have put Mehldau in this category. -

If you mean corny as being too cute for it's own good, you could say Cyrus Chessnut is sometimes guilty of these charges. But for the rest count me as part of the gang who does not get the question and not sure what the heck are we looking for exactly. -
Saw him with Archie Shepp a few years ago, gotta say was amazed by how he used his hands , it was mostly ballads and old blues so technically it was as not as hard paced as some of his other works but it still was mesmerizing to say the least.
