  1. Ordered it for 74 $, should receive it before Christmas. Still waiting for it Meanwhile digging this baby real good:cool:
  2. Boardwalk Empire episodes 3 and 4
  3. The sense of self importance some critics get from ridiculing what is widely enjoyed ('Only I truly understand!'), perhaps? I like the Moran too. I've been playing the Vijay Iyer 'Solo' this afternoon, which turns up on the VV and the Jazzwise list. Having said earlier that nothing this year really grabbed me by the scruff of the neck, I was utterly captivated on this hearing. In my book Historicity in trio is way superior, not sold on his solo playing yet. Has not recorded yet in solo to my knowledge but the one I saw live and can't wait to record one solo album would be Tigran Hamasyan
  4. Congrats Aggie, can't help thinking what my rankings could have been if I had not forgotten to put my picks on week 6, probably be near the second place. Gotta say we have a very competitive pool every year.
  5. Finished the season one of Mad Men, you're in advance for Dexter, have not watched any episodes yet, will resume during my last days off watching Boadwalk Empire, at least I will be up to date for once.
  6. Only Vaj has a numerical chance to catch the leader
  7. Mad Men season 1 episode 9 and 10 , yeah I know I'm late
  8. Same here. +2
  9. Can't help but think that if I did made my picks on week 6 , I could be fighting to keep the second place and having a long shot take on the leader
  10. 1 Tigran Hamasyan solo (Chapelle du Bon Pasteur) 2 Masada Marathon (Maisonneuve theater) 3 Vijay Iyer trio (Gesu) 4 Globe Unity Orchestra (Sala Rossa) 5 Renaud Garcia-Fons Linea del Sur (Astral) 6 Christine Jensen Orchestra (Gesu) 7 Cyro Baptista (Astral) 8 Steve Kuhn, Joey Baron, David Finck (Gesu) 9 John Surman-Howard Moody (St-James church) 10 John Escreet Quintet (Upstairs)
  11. Took advantage of the Boxing day to buy Dave Douglas - Spark of Being Expanded, it deserves a place in my top ten
  12. Same than vajerzy, will go back to work wednesday and thursday.

  14. Interupted my Gainsbourg marathon as I found this real cheap in a used CD store 27 $ for 10 cds.For those who are not familiar with this series, here's a track list http://www.musicweb-international.com/jazz/2007/big_bands_574148190.htm There is also a thread in the same section about other very fine collections of this label.
  15. Are Criterion making books now, are they as expensive as their DVDs ? Seriously, I guess you could not find an image of the book so you put a picture of the DVD instead.
  16. By the way the Ring Magazine goes digital, the first edition is available to everyone, not thrilled about the functionnality of the engine they are using but hey it's still a good deal http://thering.imirus.com/Mpowered/book/vring11/i2/p1
  17. Have listened lately to a few sets from Svensk Jazzhistoriavolume 6 to 10, was suprised to still see the influences of trad jazz in the Swedish scene, the last set was probably my favourite. Not jazz but still worth it statred to listen back to
  18. How the hell this dude ends up actually having a girl in the first place ?
  19. Did not know where to start a thread about this cd, it's on a classical label Deutsche Grammophon, it involves plenty of well known jazz musicians , Seamus Blake, Mehldau , Marc Feldman etc and it is played with compositions done in the 14th century Most of the music has an African world beat sound to it but more importantly it's georgous music, in a way it's Christmas music that you can listen all year long http://www.seaoftran...content&id=8903
  20. Here's the draw for the Champions League Shakhtar Donetsk-AS Rome Tottenham-AC Milan Schalke 04-Valence Bayern Munich-Inter Milan Real Madrid-Olympique Lyonnais FC Barcelone-Arsenal Manchester United-Olympique de Marseille Chelsea-FC Copenhague Barça and Arsenal are again put together, the other marquee matchup is Bayern-Inter, the French sides will have famous visitors, anybody thinks that Lyon might upset Madrid ? Chelsea has the easiest draw.
  21. Not jazz or even music but the Gold Seinfeld box can be bought for 85 $ on Amazon.com, it retails around 200 $ usually
  22. A favourite of my dad RIP.
