  1. With taxes and the rest, it goes here to 154 $, should I or shouldn't I ?
  2. Just received it, the Horowitz that is. Wagner Great recordings., 16 bucks for 40 cd, maybe not the best box but still. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A2JTEHY/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00A2JTEHY&linkCode=as2&tag=bonsplanscl06-20&linkId=FWMXCFLIEHAUH3UO
  3. Never saw him play, he retired when I was not yet 1 year old. Béliveau is also the last of a link of old school hockey. He was the last star of the team when it was still a 6 team league. He was one of the few who became even greater after hockey life as a board member of the Molson brewery and Vice-President of the team before retiring. With an an exceptionnal behaviour, always classy polite with people of all standings always taking time to talk to them in a graceful fashion. He was approached to do politics, PM Jean Chrétien offered him the post of Governor General which he smartly declined. He was one of the few who was able to be appreciated by conflicted parties, anglophones and francophones, federalists and independentists, even those who hated the Habs did appreciate the man. With his death it's an era that dissapears and the values that came with it also.
  4. For a while I thought they reopened the politics and religion section
  5. Now up at 176 $ . Remains at 121 $ on Amazon.ca but no stock available
  6. I mostly like the fact that they are making available in digital what was only available on LPs, budget wise it makes maybe more sense to split them in two,
  7. This is a case where not having the original cover art won't be a problem,. Seriously this is an intriguing collection, labels anthologies always fascinate me.
  8. To go back to the original subject, I remember when i was a teenager watching the actual episode, had no idea who was Anthony Braxton so the putdown went way over my head, ignorance is bliss indeed !
  9. Westminster Legacy boxset (The North-American one) for about 57 Euros with shipping from Amazon.it If you match it with another set to reduce the shipping fees it becomes a great deal. http://www.amazon.it/Westminster-Legacy-Various-Artists/dp/B00GBJVK0S/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1416671993&sr=1-1&keywords=westminster+legacy
  10. Bruckner/Solti (10 CD) à 17€ !!! on Amazon France , looks like a good deal. Getting confused by these sets, http://www.mdt.co.uk/wiener-philharmoniker-the-orchestral-edition-decca-64cds.html Any opinion on this one, found one at lest than 140 $, should I stay or should I go ?
  11. Yes I corrected my post, had a hard time finding the one you mentionned, for the time being only Amazon.UK seem to be mentionning it.
  12. There's another one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sviatoslav-Richter-Complete-Philips-Recordings/dp/B00N9MWVVW/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1415766148&sr=1-1&keywords=Sviatoslav+richter
  13. Also to be fair I don't think Plant has got the chops to sing early Led Zep anymore. In the Band of joy tour, the few LZ covers he performed were backed up by Patty Griffin . As it was mentionned Plant has done as well creatively outside the band and doesn't need to do museum rock and should stick to his guns.
  14. Good thing you didn't buy the Rubinstein, the Bernstein boxes are a pocket book compared to the pianist set . Mine is still in the middle of the bedroom because I have no idea where to put it ...
  15. By the way guys, this is the thread for posting deals , not in depth comments .... nothing prevents you from following this discussion in an other thread.
  16. Proud of myself for about 150 Loonies bought Great Recordings by Gunter Wand Leonard Bernstein Edition by Leonard Bernstein
  17. Paul Quinchette (The vice pres, Verve) Quadron (It's in my regular section, no memory of it though ) Have the Ike Quebec Mosaic. Nobody wants to confess having some Queensrÿche
  18. I would question the need for a baseball player unless this is a US list only. I'm not sure it has the global reach and recognition beyond the playing countries. That's why I suggested Ali as he was recognised probably anywhere that mass media reached at the time - I'm not too sure many other sports people have had that reach since. Michael Jordan. Quite possibly even more recognized worldwide than Ali, even at the height of his fame, I think the list really has to be broken into 1900-1950 and 1950-2000. For someone in my generation, you might arguably still count Sinatra but not remotely Bing Crosby. He's just not even on the radar. Conversely for an older generation you might possibly concede Michael Jackson was huge but not even know who Madonna was (back to the original list). Thing is is that in terms of wordwide recognition the world got smaller as the years went by, it was easier for MJ to be known around the world in late 80s and 90s than for Ali in the 60s and 70s,. It is almost impossible to compare celebrities in such a span, I agree you should spilt it in part. Print era, radio era, tv era, cable tv satellite tv era, web era
  19. Watched JSngry's MLS local team squeak a win in MLS playoff thanks to a harsh pk call.
  20. Listened to a Spanish documentary on him on youtube they pronounced it with a soft G and it rhymed like the more familiar Juan. Although to be sure it would take something in catalan.
