  1. While I generally don't like to see threads deleted, I didn't realize that it was "procedure" to notify participants of a deletion. Since thread deletions usually occur amid some acrimony, I'm surprised that civil notifications ever occur.
  2. Looks like 7 pm tomorrow... http://www.booksoup.com/authorevents.asp?LocationID=1 Thanks for the tip, Adam. That might be easier for me to make...
  3. Wonderful stuff, Jim! A Child is Born is lovely.
  4. I had been planning to go, but isn't the book like $200 retail (through the store)? I'm tempted to buy it through Amazon for only $120, especially since I'll undoubtedly get some gift certificates soon. I'm also not sure if I can get to BH tomorrow bight. Is Claxton's sig worth it?
  5. Damn. That "For emphasis" part was added in a seperate post (as was this one). But it combined them. See what I mean? And then I saw that Free For All got in the way...
  6. Don't like it. Sometimes one wants to add another thought (or respond to another member) in a seperate post. For emphasis.
  7. I haven't been to Charlie O's in several years. Ironically, I used to live in Van Nuys, not far from the place, but then they started playing jazz regularly and I moved...
  8. Geez, I thought the thread title was "A Buddy Rich European Vacation" and started to imagine the possibilities...
  9. Cool! Or should I say "Blue!"
  10. This is the program that is putting on the Lee Morgan tribute, but the site needs to be updated. As you can see, last year's events were pretty damn good! http://www.claremontmckenna.edu/news/aji/2004-2005/Spring/
  11. Yeah, I heard about/missed that Freddie Redd gig too, and have been keeping my eyes and ears open for his next. It's just good to know that he's back at it; hopefully I can catch him soon. Bertrand, you're gonna have a busy trip next month!
  12. A real troublemaker that Belden guy, huh?

    Bill Frisell

You can find FLAC decoders for free on the web. Just google it. Piece of cake to use.
  14. Sloppiness did me in. I actually "missed" Texas because i just dropped it to the area but didn't line up the borders just right. And heck, the cursor was bigger than Delaware!
  15. I've always wanted to write an autobiography about someone else...

    about BFT 25

I can't fathom why people are so upset about this. Water under the bridge, guys. Yeah, I'm curious about the answers, too, but I can't say I've ever lost sleep about not getting them.
  17. Thanks for the link, Lon. Have only sampled this so far, but it's interesting and groovy. Kudos to Belden for releasing it this way.
  18. Ooh-Boo!
  19. Do you think this e-mail I got earlier today is kosher?
  20. 40 CDs? If this were a Mosaic box it would cost $680!
  21. Emusic is still a good (and cheap) way to go. And the quality is not as "low-fi" as you might think. If you use the same emusic account (e-mail) that you did back in the "unlimited" days, you should be able to re-download everything from before (for free), with the better mp3 quality.
  22. Sorry to hear that, Jim. Stay strong.
  23. I received the same catalogue. It should be noted that it is a sale catalogue listing CDs for one to four dollars off, with another 10% off if you order via the internet. It's not a complete list of their current ctalogue. Exactly. Everything still seems available at the Concord website so it doesn't look as if anything's been deleted... yet.
  24. But ironically, the Complete Miles Davis Rock & Roll Recordings have been put on hold indefinitely...
  25. Beat you all this week. Count Basie Studio Roulette Mosiac. No box/book, but only $80 for all ten discs, still sealed.
