It's old news. I've sometimes have the opposite problem. Riding the bike sometimes seems to cause an errection. So if I'm riding to the grocery store I have to hang around a few extra minutes when locking up the bike lest it appear I'm really glad to be in the produce section.

But would they sell more if they were RVGs? Lower price, more readily available? If anything deserves a stamp of approval (from the label), it's Fuchsia Swing Song and Contours. ← Certainly the lower price helps them sell too. Or I'm guessing it does, as I don't really follow sales figures. One day during a big sale in a local Cd shop I saw someone pick up Fuchsia Swing Song and walk around for awhile. Ends up 10 minutes later he goes back to rack and puts it back. I so wanted to say "Don't do that," but he didn't seem like the friendliest of folks so I let it pass. But boy, what a sorry thing to put that one back in the rack!

I was a little surprised at the firing of Trammell, but I think 2 things hurt him. One was how unexpectedly well they did in 2004. The bigger problem is Jim Leyland wants to manage again and Detroit is trying to grab him. Though I don't like the Dodgers I too thought Tracy did the best he could with what was given him. But the lack of playoff success over the past 17 years is tough to take, so when in doubt, fire the manager.

My guess is the Conns don't sell like the RVGs. I have one friend who has trained himself to always look for the RVG stamp of approval to the extent that he'll overlook discs such as Blakey's "Roots And Herbs" that haven't received the treatment. It's not a remastering choice either, he simply likes the Good Housekeeping Seal as it were. Another friend who loves jazz but doesn't keep up on release dates is unaware of the October Conn. release program. I thought after forcing him to listen to "Fuschia Swing Song" (whereby he rushed out to buy his own copy) he might make a mental note of the series but instead he took a more logical approach and concentrated on picking up more Rivers.

What bothers me is the "Pre-Order Now!" listed beside it. I mean, I already have pre-ordered it. I don't think those words in orange were there a a few days ago. (And yup, as I have the Monk, and earlier order and then the upcoming Conns I have been checking my order history more than usual. ) I'm probably just being paranoid...speaking of which I think the Roswell Free Masons are behind the Cellar Door being delayed.

For those of you who have orders with CD Universe I don't like what I see when I check my order history. I still have a "0" shipped next to my order along with the $39.19 but now in orange lettering it says "Pre-Order Now! Release Date Not Determined." I hope that's just some goofing around by CDU and that my order is still good for "date not determined."

There's one disc on half.com for $22 & change. If that fails try music recycler for $50+. Edited to note just one disc on the half.com. Sorry to get your hopes up on that price.

In '96 after talking to Wetteland he ordered the tying run intentionally walked. Pretty sure it was that rather than making the batter the tying run. It was an against the book decision that worked. For some reason I'm thinking Ryan Klesko was involved, though I don't remember if it was to pitch to him or avoid him. I'd give him credit for his use of catchers throughout the late '90s despite the insistence that he should have penciled in young Posada as a starter and be done with it. It allowed more pinch hitting opportunities by platooning. He sure used Leyritz well in '96. Certainly having the players and resources makes a huge difference, and I like to poke a friend who goes on a bit too much about Joe being a genius (I loved Torre as a player and like him as person a great deal) about his stint with the Cardinals. Not sure why you are insulting his results with Braves though as he won a title in his first year and in the next would have won the wild card had there been one. His 3rd and last year the team finished 1 game under .500 and finished 2nd. Big difference that year was that Randy Johnson was a weak-hitting third baseman rather than a 6-10 LHP! I'm with others in finding value in his not screwing up a big budget team and keeping the clubhouse together by how he treats people as underestimated skills.

I've heard a boomy audience of the 5/05/05 show. They don't stretch things out much but I think that's to be expected and it's enjoyable enough. I was most impressed with Jack Bruce's playing on that night. Certainly there was a lot of love (and lighter wallets ) in the hall that night.

The silence is the interruption. This is my 1st upgrade with the material and I'm in love all over again.

Same running order as Four! and Straight, No Chaser except for one bonus trio cut at the end of each disc. Whew, what a relief! Though if you buy the 2 disc set you file under "K" while the individual discs are filed under "H." And that takes care of the scorekeeping questions. Now on to the remastering.

They certainly used to and maybe still do, but a couple of years ago I started seeing Made In Mexico instead. For kicks I once posted a question on the Grateful Dead newsgroup that if Japan discs are good and Taiwanese are bad, what are Mexican? Didn't get an answer, not even from a troll. I gave up with hunting in stores and just do mail order for TYs. If you live on the east coast American-Digital is good. I'm on the west so I use Cascade Media. They're out of Portland so I get my discs within 2 days of ordering. I've also used Rima.com out of L.A. too. It's easier to get Tyvek sleeves from such places too than trying to find them in person - at least in this town.

He mentions his family some in Chronicles Vol. 1. He has some positive things to say but it's pretty obvious that he's always felt like something of an outsider to both his town & family. It can happen. Ask Ray Davies.

Same thing happened to me, though I was kind of expecting it. I think the last time it happened was when I ordered a Dexter Gordon Black Lion reissue on 1201. It was backordered 3 to 5 days holding up the order. I didn't pay attention and after 5 days they shipped the rest. Oh heck, what am I saying, this happened with a Don Byas issue on the same label last week! I've since learned to cancell the backorder after the order ships and have them e-mail me when they really have it. So the bright side of all this is that I have a Monk/Coltrane that'll be here in a week that will get a lot more attention (and deservedly so) as Sony once again pulls the rug out from under us.

Oh I know I will. I've never been good at buying wine and then aging it in the cellar. For some reason I can do that with some artist's albums that for whatever reason just happen to be amongst the last titles I haven't gotten around to hearing. For Miles "Dig" is one of them. For Monk it's the self-titled Columbia. Something about the black & white cover adds a certain something to it too. I going to try to save it for when I either really need it or just want to celebrate something special. I didn't take this delayed gratification approach with the Monk/Coltrane coming out in 9 days though.
