  1. I've been listening to a disc here and a disc there of the set and I was never a big Deadhead and this stuff is GREAT! I bought it because it was so enthusiastically recommended here and I'm glad I made the purchase. So much music, so little time... I think you may have 6 confused for 5 (the month) as Amir was listening to the famous May '77 Boston-Ithica-Buffalo run, whereas I believe you're talking about the June '77 Winterland official set. Both were played on the 7th, 8th, & 9th of the month hence the confusion, and both some mighty fine shows! Apologies for the cliche, but "it's all good."
  2. What a great way to do it! It makes no sense, and it doesn't matter a hoot, but in my head I always visualize these shows as being outdoors, perhaps because the music is so "sunny." Unless those venues briefly had retractable roofs however they were played indoors. Now that summer is finally here in western Oregon I may (ho! - accidental pun) have to revisit this weekend myself.
  3. Kenny Burrell's Ellington Is Forever, Vol. 1 for $4.17. A steal!
  4. You can also copy the youtube address from the address bar, then when replying here click the "insert media" icon that is circled in red and then paste the address in. Meanwhile I've forgotten how to insert pictures that aren't in condensed view...
  5. Me too, though living in Eugene I know a few people who get excited about such natural occurrences. (I do too, though I'm not as demonstrative. ) He certainly lives in a beautiful setting and raises some very cute puppies.
  6. It's a typo, there are just 2 discs. Whew!
  7. The Official Downloads are on iTunes as well, though obviously not as FLAC. I can't recall now if lossless versions of this series disappeared before or after the Rhino deal.
  8. Oh my gawd, look at those turkeys...
  9. To be fair, "fucking" isn't monosyllabic.
  10. Yeah, you'd think they were straining to stay above .400. For us 3rd place is a long ride up. What do we have to root for? Uh...gosh, Ichiro is the front runner to lead the AL in singles.
  11. I was that way as a kid with the Columbia Records logo. Is it an "R"? Is it an eye with legs? Is it the CBS logo's sister walking away? (It looked a little like my 3rd grade teacher so I pegged it a feminine.) I've caught myself a few times starting to stare at the Blue Note logo, but I'm careful to avoid "eye contact." Given the behavior of many here, I figure it has hypnotizing powers. "You must seek out all Connoisseurs." "Don't you want a complete RVG series?" "Oh, to have all of me in cardboard LP replicas." Don't look at the logo. Put your hand up to block it and just admire the rest of the cover.
  12. In the US it's sold as Magners. It's a "rights" thing as to why it goes by another name outside of Ireland.
  13. I got a good deal on the gold box full set last year and loved going through it again. I hadn't watched since it had aired and bailed on the show during the second season. I ended up enjoying the show after the murder was solved way more than I expected. Probably just because it was such an odd little world to settle down in.
  14. The rehearsal in St. Louis was pretty cool too. Not as many weapons as Fouts had to play with, but Jim Hart to Mel Gray going long, and multi-purpose back Terry Metcalf could do it all. Unfortunately fumbling often was part of "all" too. Until the Greatest Show On Turf it was the best couple of years of football in St. Louis when Coryell took the team to the playoffs 2 years in a row back when the East was ruled by Cowboys & Redskins.
  15. An astonishing episode. I'll never be thankful enough to the friend who told me about "Buffy" -- this at a time when early seasons were in re-runs while new episodes were still arriving; I think the show as a whole still had about two seasons to go. I didn't catch the series at the beginning either, as I foolishly judged "the book by the cover," or rather a TV show by the title. I just assumed it was some sort of silly romance show for teen girls. Nope.
  16. The Body from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It concerns what happens when someone you love is found dead (and not murdered) in your house, from what runs through your mind about what could have been done, all the other emotions, along with the boredom of it all.
  17. I read the subject line like it was a band name. Happy birthday guys!
  18. These interleague games are jacking up the NL ERA leaders ERAs. Lincecum goes from 2.86 to 3.13. Garcia of the Cards gets roughed up by the Royals (eh?), causing his to go from 1.79 to 2.27. About time, some of those numbers were looking ridiculous.
  19. Ah damn, you have my sympathies. While I'm not a Red Sox I have the utmost admiration for Pedroia and how he plays. No disrespect to Youk or others but I think he is the last guy you want to lose. It sure is different to see the Rangers in play for a mid-season acquisition. I wouldn't mind seeing them putting Lee to better use than Seattle. Oakland has had a great deal of success historically (though it's a bit rough if you're in your young 20s I suppose) and the Angels are still the enemy, so I could hop on the bandwagon for a Ranger World Series appearance for 2010.
  20. Dock Ellis walked 8 in his no hitter. Hmm, I wonder...
  21. Hi-ooooooooooooh! I had noticed that the M's had gone 7-3 in their last 10, the looked again at the # of games back (13 this morning) and thought, yeah, 2 great pitchers sure are the key to success. Kind of hard to make up ground when Texas has won 10 in a row. Searching for the least bit of good news they are a winning team at home, which when you're as bad as the M's are is a little unusual. However this just means they really stink up the joint when on the road.
  22. Way to add 0.45 to a guy's ERA there. The kid is almost a commoner now, with a stinkin' 1.60.
  23. If you aren't allergic to 320 kbps mp3s, some of the Dagger releases are $9.99 as downloads.
  24. I think the batter is out, and this applies: Rule 7.04© Comment: If a fielder, after having made a legal catch, should fall into a stand or among spectators or into the dugout or any other out-of-play area while in possession of the ball after making a legal catch, or fall while in the dugout after making a legal catch, the ball is dead and each runner shall advance one base, without liability to be put out, from his last legally touched base at the time the fielder fell into, or in, such out-of-play area.
  25. Goooooooooooo Paps! Happy Birthday!
