  2. make sure you clear your browser cache, many times the new avatar won't display until you reload a completely fresh copy of the page. Also, you have to indicate the size of the picture to the software, so check the height/width prior to uploading, attach the file and fill the size in the boxes, that will make it appear correctly. Right now it appears you have a Buster Keaton in jail avatar, correct?
  3. The generational thing could definitely play a role. Growing up he was one of those filmakers that everyone told me I was "supposed" to watch, but it wasn't until I got into my late 20's that some of his movies started to sink in. I'm still lukewarm on many of his movies. I don't deny the talent, I just don't always enjoy the movies. Many people I talked to over the years indicated that they just didn't like Woody as a character...it's that "character" that he played in his 70's films that doesn't seem to translate that well to people my age and younger. I tend to gravitate more towards the movies that he directs and doesn't star in. The neurotic schtick was pretty funny when Woody was younger, but now it just seems like a pathetic old man bitching for the sake of bitching.
  4. LOVE this song! Never seen this live version before, featuring Phil Lynott (who sang on the studio version).
  5. What a depressing story! I had actually never heard of this before, thanks for sharing.
  6. I think I'm happiest for Donald Driver. The dude has been quietly awesome for his entire career, he deserved it.
  7. The Black Eyed Peas are a fuckin' joke.
  8. Yeah, I just saw that, very depressing. I'm going to play his solo from this classic track to celebrate his memory: Thin Lizzy - Still In Love With You
  9. Is there a joke I'm missing out on?
  10. Barry's score for Somewhere In Time is a sentimental favorite.
  11. Now that is some deeply sad news to me. Barry wrote some really timeless, beautiful music.
  12. Yep. My 2006 iMac can still run the latest version of the Mac OS and Windows 7, while my Dell computer that I bought in 2006 is sitting in the closet with a bad motherboard...and it's been there for over a year.
  13. ...and I think the Mac would still be the better choice. I used Windows for most of my professional career, but once I got a Mac I've never considered using anything else. My Mac Mini runs Windows 7 perfectly, so if I absolutely need Windows it's installed and ready to go. Having the dual OS option alone puts the Mac ahead of any Dell, plus the support provided by Apple is incomparable...if you want to talk to India, buy the Dell, if you want to talk with people that actually know the computers (and the language), buy a Mac.
  14. The Collector's Choice series was from 1995, but I believe the mastering dated back to the 80's on many of the titles. The mastering on Look Out always seemed okay to me. The album itself is fantastic, one of my favorites by Turrentine.
  15. Make sure to get the "sister release" Return Of The Prodigal Son. Both are fantastic.
  16. Mercy (season one) - don't usually like hospital shows, this one is a little more entertaining than most.
  17. If you love something, just do it. And don't worry about excuses, they serve no purpose, just enjoy whatever life gives you and let someone else figure out the "why" after you've gone. It gives them something to do.
  18. Both #1 seeds go down, I'm beginning to think the bye week isn't a good thing.
  19. Here's an interesting thought. If the Seahawks beat the Bears today, then the NFC championship game would be held at Qwest Field in Seattle.
  20. Well, I'm definitely eating my words complaining about a 7-9 team making the playoffs. The Seahawks knocking off the defending world champs should be plenty to justify their right to be in the mix. Bravo to Seattle for a gutsy game.
  21. 1987 First discs... Metallica - Garage Days Re-Revisited Metallica - Kill 'Em All Jimi Hendrix - Smash Hits Deep Purple - In Rock Black Sabbath - Paranoid
  22. I seem to remember a few years back, the Chargers winning the AFC West with an 8-8 record. They hosted the Colts who were 12-4...and beat them. So you never know... The NFC West just has the unfortunate luck to have 4 teams in various stages of rebuilding. Cardinals, Seahawks, 49ers all need new Quaterbacks...as well as several other gaping holes (defense!). 49ers have no coach, Seahawks are in their first year with Carroll, Cardinals could end up firing theirs...etc. Same kind of situation various divisions go through over the years. It's just that commonly they'll be at least 1 really good team in a division (Colts, Patriots, Steelers, etc) so you don't notice it as much. Honestly, this season has probably been one of the absolute sloppiest and overall yawn-inspiring of any in recent memory. The Patriots appear to still be the model franchise.
  23. Buffy - Season 4 Angel - Season 1
  24. Not that many these days. The vinyl collection was lost in a move at one point several years back (I have about 40 now), the CD collection is somewhere around 500. A few long stretches of unemployment did the collection in. Not really worried about it, I "absorbed" a great deal of music in the past decade or so, I'm only re-purchasing items that I can't live without. It's helped me prioritize and still leave the door open for discovering new things.
