  1. I got it yesterday !
  2. Thanks for the tip, picked up a couple of Solal's LP (Gaumont Bigband, Columbia reissue of a 1960s LP), but you're not kidding about the prices, 15-20 euros for OJC LPs,. Beautiful setting though. The prices were so high I only spent 10 mins in the place not wishing to be tempted.
  3. Martial Solal- Poljazz 1978- live solo gig from Poland- nice, not sure if this is widely available.

    Kenny Dorham

    who cares, Dumbledore kicked ass
  5. Good God Man - Shouldn't be allowed ! Is this some a hithertoo previously unknown Mosaic paradise-on-earth North of the Border? First time in four years in this shop and no, there are no more !!
  6. Count Basie Roulette Live Mosaic 12LP set £30 Ed Hall - Rampart Street- Top Rank- (ex Rae Cox) Living Legends New Orleans 2LP Riverside DG Mono Louis Cotrell- Riverside Japan Errol Garner - Concert by the Sea (Phillips UK DG, flatedge) all £12.50
  7. Today got Count Basie Roulette Live Mosaic 12 LP set for £30 Missed out by five minutes on getting Commodore Mosaics Vols 1,2,3 for £125 , not sure I'll get over it....
  8. Up , as I 'll be in Paris next week, might manage to get a few minutes to my self. Where's the number one place to get French/ European jazz on vinyl ?
  9. Agreed. I keeping dipping into, but haven't started reading it properly as I'm still reading a Dizzy Gillespie biography.
  10. Just received "Heavy Sax", it's an ok bluesy sort of date, brief at 34 mins. On the Everest label - a budget outfit I think. Sound is adequate but not upto the best. Lots of R'n'B riffs over which sax and trumpet purr. Buy with caution.
  11. The Mike Taylor LP is pretty good. Well short of unmissable but well worth hearing. I'm not fabulously impressed with the sound of the vinyl, ( it's ok but...)...it sounds rather flat, my guess is that the LP has been mastered from a digital source.
  12. Hardware upgrade Replaced my old MM cartridge ( Rega Elys) with a MC Denon DL103R, DNM mains cable and Incognito RB300 rewire for my vanilla Rega P3. The difference is massive. I thought my TT sounded good before but now it's so much better....
  13. Wilbur De Paris- On the Riviera _ Atlantic (stereo original)- nice bouncy set, like wise for the cover
  14. anyone tried L'Art du Son yet, I'm using the RRL stuff ( deep cleaner if obviously dirty followed by one go with "Super vinyl Wash ") but it's not exactly cheap but it does work.
  15. My thoughts entirely, I subscribe to both but enjoy Jazz Review more.
  16. All of the OJC LPs I've heard sound fine, including US pressings, French (Carrere) and UK (ACE), some state remastering from digital sources but even these sound excellent
  17. Jazz Review continues on as strong as ever published every second month. This is really tragic news as he was (generally) so insightful. I have valued his recommendations in the Penguin and Jazz Review for as long as they've been published. Wonder who might care to pick up his mantle...RIP
  18. I need the Dorham and may get the Smith's
  19. My Sharp MR2 plays but won't record any more but it's fine enough. My DAB radio with SD card has taken over for recording broadcasts and of course DaD covers all the other bases. MD is a great format none the less. I probably ought to get a better deck before they go OOP
  20. My panic buying has come gone in waves, I bought loads when Chuckk first flagged this up three years ago. The very real recent disappearance has had me filing orders regularly form amazon market place sellers as well mainly UK vinyl titles of various ages ( Esquires, Vogues, Transtlantics, OJC etc). Recently added around 20 in the last 3 months. The closure of Fopp in UK has been quite a blow as I tended to pick up ZXY OJC when went there. They were always £3 to £5 , whilst their finish isn't quite as good they're not bad.
  21. I hope I wasn't too late... I was, ordered this am but just got email saying it was sold out.......my fault for sitting on the fence...over night..
  22. I've some of this on three excellent RCA LPs from France. I'll certainly go for the Mosaic for the whole package. It's not just the music you get from them.
  23. I'm not being remembered either
  24. John Coltrane- Lush Life- Esquire
