  1. Any comments on what's not included ? I noted that not all of the RCA "Indispensible Chu Berry" 2LP set is reproduced on this set. I'm no expert though
  2. Atomic are great. lovely melodies and full power fire brand number too.
  3. I'll go for the Hill for sure. The rest I have (other than the Dexter) on CD in some form or another. I'm not compelled to upgrade any although the McLean sounded quite rough and harsh to my ears in its last CD incarnation. I'll be interested if this new edition represents a substantial sonic upgrade.
  4. I got a half dozen titles off jazzmusicdepot. No problems. All were sealed and thus very nice.
  5. I have picked up these titles (Universal Japan) for around $12 each in the last 3 years. I fairly recently got both Tranquility and Very Cool on Japanese CDs through amazon.co.uk market place sellers. Might be worth having a little hunt around for these legit titles.
  6. I have a pretty decent HMV version I picked up last year. Nice mellow session. Don't think I have any more Travis elsewhere.
  7. These Xanadu's have a much harder edge than his earlier material , all excellent.
  8. February is turning out not so great for me. Someone tried to steal my wife's car on our driveway , couldn't so they torched it completely, damaged my car too ( melted at one corner). The place stinks and the insurance are dragging their feet. No one was hurt though

How's the sound on this compared to the single Cds that saw the light of day in the late 80s. I've the Storyville (muddy) and Roost Quartet sessions (ok sound) already. Is the box worth upgrading to.
  10. Don't underestimate the Force. Minding the power of the force, any comments regarding Classics Kenny Dorham -Afro Cuban Bennie Green- Back on the scene I don't know these sessions at all. Are these good enough to justify the £££.
  11. So far I only have their Lou Donaldson Takes Off Kenny Drew Undercurrent Johnny Griffin- Introducing all sound good. I only buy titles I have not got on CD as I'm not a vinyl obsessive (yet)
  12. What do you think of this? I generally prefer the Beatles in mono right up through Hey Jude and Revolution, but I'm disappointed by the White Album in mono. It seems like the stereo release took priority on this one. Don't mean to rain on your parade, but I'm just curious. multiple poor re-pressings (early 80s) of the White Album were in part responsible for me abandoning vinyl. Can't comment on originals but i love my Rubber Soul, With the Beatles, Hard Days Night in mono. Abbey Road is wonderful in stereo though....
  13. agreed, this compilation is surely avoidable as BN have covered this material several times in recent years.
  14. Warne Out- Warne Marsh- Interplay
  15. this is a great, great set , really turned me on to Lacy and reinterested me in Waldron. Very fine.
  16. I recently used a defragmeter from ashampoo.com to slowly defragment my drives it did a significantly better job than the Windows tool
  17. any tips on where to get this , amazon.uk don't seem to list it. The boot from DaD got me hooked.
  18. I'll be getting the Hutch but the single disc Asante by Tyner didn't work for me, the bonus tracks on that disc were much better than the worldy music stew of the bulk of the tracks.
  19. my intro to Hill was getting the CD of "Our thing" in the late 1980s. I was new to jazz but his style drew he in instantly.. It's still a very good place to hear Hill to advantage. The only Hill I've found less than compelling have been some solo stuff (From california with love).
  20. who actually wrote "Walkin"
  21. I already had Cds of the Capitol and Keynote sessions when I picked this up shortly after its release. The music is excellent, I believe some of the sessions are incomplete, the format of the Cds and booklet drives me nuts but it's very cheap. Sound quality is highly variable as were the original releases (I believe, but I've not done an AB comparison). It's not bad overall but I be happier if I had licenced original CDs of more of the material.
  22. Best film I've seen in a long time. Graphic violence and peril as they say. I won't be taking my daughter. 15 plus sounds ok to me
  23. surely a joke !!!
  24. I'm not looking for any vinyl titles but just pick up what I can. Vinyl purchases are very spontaneous as result, as any delay leads to missing out. There's so much good music out there to be had for small money it often strikes me as irrational to covet prestige titles or rara avis which go for magnitudes more. Having said that I'd like Lucky Thompson "European Songbook" (? correct title) on MPS, not heard it in any form and I'm a LT completist.
