Louis Moholo Moholo’s Five Blokes————Uplift the people———(Ogun) Beautiful presented and paced set. Of course our worthy constituent plays mean piano here but there is stunning playing all over this. Ezontakana has a glorious soprano sax solo with grumbling tenor sax in the background. I’m assuming that Yarde is on soprano there as liner notes don’t make it clear which sax either are playing. Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrica gives me goosebumps and tense of shame that I swallowed the media lies of the early 80s regarding Mandela et al. Ooops....... wrong thread as this is a CD not vinyl.....

How's this one. Not one I've heard and I do like Lowe's music.?

Hey Kids, Have You Heard The News? MOSAIC's IN TROUBLE!!!
Clunky replied to JSngry's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I’m sure the sound of “West Side Story” and “Now hear this” could both be improved on as recall the transfers sounding a bit grating. It’s his Savoy dates and any unissued Muse material that would interest me most. -
A mono UK copy appeared today in the mail. Thanks for the recommendation, this is a very fine set and my first LP by Shearing!
-
Ricotti & Albuquerque------First Wind--------(Pegasus UK) Prog-jazz-rock-blues that works well enough. Superbly recorded and yet this probably heading to the for sale pile. I need the space/ cash etc Is Andy Bey on all tracks? His presence would make me think avoid.

Yes. They do warm up as things progress but the molasses added to sound don't

Junior Mance———Truckin’ and Trakin’———-(Beehive) Grooves in the manner of a snail on diazepam. Engineer Mal Addey partly responsible for the dead sound. There’s a good recording trying to get out but you can’t escape the thought that they were Truckin’ this one straight to the morgue. No ones finest 36mins.

I was playing this too today along with Club Mozambique. The latter new to me and had me totally hooked.

Wiki states this was repeated from 1950s to 1973. I'll have caught it in its last few years speaking of everyone's favourite NP Tony Oxley---------Tomorrow is here-------(Dossier) 🇩🇪 Sounds immense but quite approachable really. Gerd Dudek, Barry Guy and Johannes Bauer and others feature in the sixteen strong orchestra
-
Krzysztofa Komeda——Komedy 1———(Poljazz) pieces from 1965 and 1962, with the former more interesting. It features Stanko , Urbaniak and Zbigniew Namyslowski a.o. Not of the highest level but still pretty interesting.

Duck Baker--------Plays Monk--------(Triple Point) Beautifully recorded set of solos on Monks finest tunes. Deserves the 5 star rating from freejazzblog.

Extremens is also very good Braam

It came free with the Bill Barron set, as did the Buddy Bolden. Three BBs for the price of one. Or as RRK would put it “three in one without the oil”

I recall snapping one the cylinders trying to prize it out of the plastic tray. Mosaic packaging strikes again.

Mosaic Records is releasing a Savory collection set
Clunky replied to ghost of miles's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Flurin we’re in synergy again. I’ve ordered the Wilson too. I think Scott is working his way through the orders as quickly as possible. I felt guilty for slowing the process down by sending an email! No doubt we’ll receive shipping notice on the same day , after all Scotland and Switzerland both start with the same letter. America get sets first and Zimbabwe last. 😮 -

I think they must have sold a fair few. I’ve yet to receive shipping notification. I checked with Scott who indicated that they were still collating orders and they would get to mine sometime next week. Hopefully this is due to the volume of orders but may of course be related to staffing etc -
My copy arrived today along with the new Threadgills. Looking forward to spinning all three

Thanks for that . Sounds very tempting

I don’t know this one but have a few nice things as part various collaborations and with BraamdeJoodeVatcher he seems to come out of the Dutch piano sound typified by Misha, Guus Janssen. More Nicols than Monk but advanced music than can bring a smile. I’d love to see him play one day.

Playing this now

I can’t bring myself to accept their cookies, backing out quickly. I don’t want food poisoning or worse. -

Agree 100%. An Oscar for diving and protesting his innocence.😭 -
Excellent record. Incidentally this UK pressing sounded much better than the '4Menwithbeards' pressing which I subsequently ditched. The latter sounded quite flat

I suppose the issue is that with teams with such an abundance of skill they shouldn’t need to resort to theatrical antics to gain advantage. RM are a delight to watch as are Barca. I’m looking forward to see how Spain get on in the WC. Quality football always sways me..... I’m not expecting too much of England , just hoping they’re not a car crash.
