  1. I must pay more attention. Probably deleted the notification email thinking it was more GDPR guff. Think I must have most of it already but .....
  2. Excellent Tubbs on this one. Sound is a tad rough but only adds to the urgency of the music. I'm a dilettante when it comes to Tubbs but this is a good one even for the only partially committed
  3. It's probably a headphone job or else listen on an ultra high end system to help separate the sounds of the different instruments. I find playing loud achieves a similar outcome 😀
  4. Lars Gullin———Aeros Aromatic Atomica Suite——-(EMI Sweden) Probably Lars’ best ‘album’ as a concept, certainly the highlight of latter part of his career.
  5. I must admit I was puzzled by the TV pundits who meekly accepted Ramos' actions as being non malicious. When I saw the incident I was outraged as Ramos clearly binds tighter on Salah's arm which could only result in a facial or limb injury as Salam would be prevented from cushioning his fall. I thought it a disgrace and Ramos should IMO be ashamed.
  6. Look for the highlights. Bale’s two are combination of brilliance and ineptitude. Liverpool aren’t my team but I’d imagine that their goalie might not recover from two howlers on this stage. Real were magnificent and Liverpool did their best but looked beneath the underdog after Salah’s exit.
  7. Exceptional goal from Bale
  8. What a poor goal to concede
  9. In my view it must surely have been a foul, having his arm held as he fell could only result in some sort of injury.
  10. For those into vinyl I found the sound of the reissue of “Thesaurus “ as “T’was only yesterday “ on Discovery to sound significantly better than the compressed sounding original.
  11. I ditched my copy of “Autumn “ , perhaps I got no further than side 1. I recall enjoying Pussy Cat Stomp ( approximate title) but the rest left me comatose.
  12. Too many CDs wander on for too long. I think chunks of music the length of LP side are just about perfect. If you really want to get to know a piece then 78s make for really concentrated listening. It's usually all over in 3mins , then you've got to decide flip it over, play it again or play another disc. My sense of wonder and appreciation for what Satch did on his Hot 5s and 7s improved massively with playing them on 78s.
  13. This is such a good date for Big John. I've the CD , it was my first encounter with Patton. Two things are odd. Firstly why did it stay unissued for such a long time and secondly why such a dull generic title? Perhaps Patton had a hand in the latter if not the former.
  14. Sun Ra———-Of abstract dreams——-(Strut) this has sat at home unopened and sealed for a month or more. I should not have delayed as it is superb. A quality small group radio session from Philly circa 1975.
  15. I too picked this up following its recent discussions here. The original album is better than fine but i'd certainly return to the bonus tracks first
  16. er.....that's the whole point ............to play them in a public place.....if played in doors everyone especially the player goes deaf. They were for marching soldiers to war .... which happen mostly outdoors. all kidding aside they are difficult instrument to practice and not send somebody wild about the noise. As I sit here on my patio finishing a late lunch as on most days i can hear the sound of the pipes being played. Better still pipes and drums..
  17. Quit all this hating on bagpipes.......Scotland's national instrument (of sorts)..... and remember if they were good enough for Albert Ayler or Tiny Grimes , then they're good enough for you.....
  18. that's what i recall too. We can be thankful that MC managed to get every Hank session reissued and at a price/availability that meant it could be widely enjoyed.
  19. Probably not in the same way that Cory Weeds wouldn’t
  20. Cyrus (Horse) Chestnut
  21. Harold Ash(by)
  22. Kirk Knuffke ——Little Cross ——(Steeplechase) another great disc from KK. Very dependable
  23. both volumes recorded March 1984
  24. It and Volume 1, Charles Tyler Ensemble, Live at Sweetbasil are both very good as i recall, although not played in a while. Nothing like as complex as Saga but just fine. Sound quality is also tops.
