  1. Doris Roberts?
  2. You didn't hear? ECM threads are the new high.
  3. I've seen what's going on over there. Can we please leave it over there?
  4. One thing I always wonder about regarding this interesting exercise is the chemistry between the guests themselves. Did you factor this into your choices, Paul? Or does one just pick five people they'd like to meet? I wonder if there's going to actually be a conversation or just awkward silence. Or maybe Cecil, Louis and Duke end up hanging in the kitchen while Ives and Bach sit at the table (although if Louis brings some weed that could get things loosened up). I think Bach and Bird would be interesting. Or Debussy and Bill Evans. Or Stravinsky and Gil Evans. With Paul's particular group it would be interesting to have a piano around.
  5. Speaking of the Johnny Richards Orchestra, Quill is featured a great deal on the "Wide Range" LP. "Wide Range" is also included on the Johnny Richards Mosaic Select.
  6. Here's a link to Ryan's project: The Gil Evans Project There's a CD release gig at the Jazz Standard next week. (look at the show schedule, May 17-20) I'm looking forward to hearing the recording.
  7. They don't do Girl From Ipana, unfortunately. Or Ultra Brite Size Life. Or Star Crest Lovers. Or Arm & Hammerhead. Of course we can't forget Yusef's "Live at Pepsodent". OK, I'm done.
  8. I haven't had any experience with mushrooms since the 70s. Good luck though!
  9. obit Sad news. This is from my all-time favorite episode, "The Fun Girls". Goober does Cary Grant
  10. My nominee for Mother Of The Year.
  11. It's one bridge short of rhythm changes. But really, aren't we all?
  12. Definitely. I don't think I've ever seen it before. Very cool.
  13. Funny to see this thread- coincidentally I just listened to all of LAILC yesterday for the first time in a long time and was amazed at how great it STILL sounds. Burning band!
  14. He bumped into the guy first, sure seems to me he knew he was there, and after the impact he didn't even react. He knew exactly what he was doing IMO.
  15. Happy Birthday, Erik! You're a dick. (I decided to bypass nuance this year)
  16. thanks. close, or perhaps mary lou williams? Of course, Roland Hanna didn't play saxophone, but his stylistic versatility was in the same ballpark IMO.
