  1. AKA "Nude Indigo".
  2. I fixed the thread title, pardon my error.
  3. Never heard of that one, but Rosolino's on it so I want it.
  4. Once again, a very happy birthday to our good friend Rooster Tom. Cheers buddy!
  5. Just picked this up. I like it. What do you guys think?
  6. Well, I do leave it in the back window so I can used handicapped parking. And really, the trombone is a drag any way you look at it.
  7. I've pretty much stopped reading the paper on a daily basis, but I still love sitting down with the Sunday paper and a cup of coffee. I'm more likely to browse and discover interesting articles than when I'm reading online. I also don't need or want yet another reason to sit at the computer any more than I already do.
  8. I'm reluctant to even say this because I'll probably jinx myself, but the last time I got a ticket was in 1977. I remember because I was driving a bunch of my friends back from a Maynard Ferguson concert (Peter Erskine was playing drums, his pre-Weather Report days).
  9. Interesting personnel on the Blakey- Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Lucky Thompson, Victor Sproles and John Hicks. Not a lot of fireworks, but still a better-than-average side IHMO.
  10. Rahsaan who? I just can't stop looking at that pic of Jenna Fischer.
  11. Is that place still in Ft. Lauderdale- I believe it was called the Musician's Exchange?
  12. Kenny Garrett, I believe. I'd like to see that group.
  13. Don't forget Joe "Curly Joe" DeRita..... ......and Joe Besser. Altogether there were four "Curly" characters. Curly and Shemp Howard were Moe's brothers.
  14. Emeril Lagasse Mario Batali Cat Cora
  15. A very Happy Birthday to you, Conrad! You've been part of this community a long time and I consider you to be a good friend (all politics aside)! Have a great day!
  16. Like Skid said, Don Martin was the greatest. Best cartoon sounds effects ever. I remember in 7th grade or so when the class would put in a group order for paperbacks. I would always go for the Don Martin compilations. Now that I look back on that, it does explain a lot.
  17. I like First Flight too, especially because Frank Rosolino is on it.
  18. Ha! I loved the Night & Day schtick. I was waiting for the slide to go flying off. I'm not sure how good she had to be for her play, but she's got a ways to go. BTW, I'm steering clear of those female trombonists.
  19. Pizza and a tossed salad. Decided to do the pizza differently tonight. Used a deep-dish pan (actually just a cake pan) and put the mozzerella on the bottom, then sausage, black olives, sauce and parmesan & seasoning. Kind of a Chicago-style attempt. It sure has a different flavor when you do it that way- the melted cheese at the bottom is great.
  20. Just had a PM exchange with our good friend aloc. Glad to report he's doing well!
  21. Sounds like a potential serious hang. Wish I could be there!
  22. Great news SS! I hope to visit Austin sometime soon and hear you play.
  23. Saw Woody Herman there in about 1978. I wonder if 'Free' was in the band? I didn't start until '84.
  24. Of all the various attempts to animate Giant Steps this one is my favorite, really fun to watch and very well done as far as the synchronization. It's interesting to study this solo, Trane definitely has some favorite licks- check out what he does in bars 9 and 14 (which both have the same changes) over the course of the solo. One thing about these tunes, like GS, Countdown, Satellite....he never really played them again after the studio recordings, almost like they were intended to be exercises, a means to an end. Are there any live versions of these tunes?
