  1. What? No western Michigan gift basket with blueberries and coffee beans and dark chocolate and waffle mix and local wine and whatever the hell else they have up there? WTF?
  2. When David Letterman was a weatherman (way back when) I heard he (as a joke) forecasted hail "the size of canned hams".
  3. Sorry- I watched the clip earlier and forgot to post. Definitely a laurel and hearty handshake to our hosts for being recognized as the MFs we all knows and loves. **CLASP!** Way to go guys! Do you get any free shit for this? EDIT: Duly chastised, BeBop. You are a good forum cop.

  11. Conn is hovering over his thread. For the love of god, can't someone help this man!?* *(spoken w/Charleton Heston voice)
  12. Yes, it was recorded in Vegas. I'm assuming some of those guys I don't recognize were probably locals. EDIT: I see Amazon only has used copies of the vinyl for around 20 bucks.
  13. Actually it's "Impro-Jazz" (odd name, I know). You can do a search for the label name at Amazon and get a whole list of titles. Most are very good quality audio & video. I just got a few new ones including Dexter in Iowa in '79. (I was at that concert at Iowa State University, a place called The Maintenance Shop that had many great conerts in the 70s. There's a Bill Evans concert on DVD from the MS (he complains about the piano). Other concerts that took place there (not on DVD unfortunately) included Jack DeJohnette Special Edition (w/Murray & Blythe), Johnny Griffin and Woody Shaw. I've heard rumors about the Woody Shaw being released, at least on audio. I hope so 'cause it was a GREAT set. (I even played there once w/Albert King!) Also got Mulligan/Farmer in '59 in Rome and Basie in '68 in Berlin & Stockholm. There are many others.

  18. The Village Vanguard band winning a Grammy is anything but an injustice. The best nominee won IMO, and I'm very happy for them. I'm sorry you are disappointed, but I don't think you'll find many here who share your view. Cheers! By the way: "jazz industry"?
  19. ...and many more to come!
  20. Lots of birthdays- hard to keep up! Have a very happy one MJ!
  21. He also played on the latest Mosaic Benny Goodman set.
  22. When I have the time to make the sauce from scratch I like this recipe. It's basic, simple and fast. Tweak as desired (for example, some might want less sugar- I like it with a little sweetness and heat). PIZZA SAUCE * 3 garlic cloves, minced * 3 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil * 1 (29 ounce) can tomato puree * 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes * 2 tablespoons brown sugar * 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning * 1 teaspoon dried basil * 1/2 teaspoon salt * 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes Brown garlic in olive oil. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for awhile. I expect catesta has a recipe that will totally trump this one..........
