  6. Very nice to have Kent Carter sign in. Warm welcome and hope you'll add to the discussions here!
  7. So it appears that Fresh Sound/Absolute Distribution has licenced the Vee Jay material The VeeJay/Blue Moon came out in 1997. The Mosaic box was released three or four years later! I remember getting those Vee Jays CDs from Spain since they added so much material to the original LP releases. When the Mosaic box was issued later, I decided not to acquire it since it contained only a few additional takes. And the sound of those CDs was very acceptable even if not up to the Mosaic remxes.
  8. You're not alone! I enjoyed them too! Stuck with their reissues from VeeJay. Fine sound, alternate takes. That was good enough here. Also enjoyed their CD reissues of rare items like The Cool Gabriels, Rocky Boyd, Anthony Ortega, Jomar Dragon and others...

Also similar Real Gone Jazz sets of Cannonball Adderley, Kenny Dorham, Red Garland, the Modern Jazz Quartet and John Coltrane.

  18. Was this ever on the Fred Miles label? My copy of this album is on the FM label created by Monte Kay. Monte Kay is credited as producer on my FM copy of it! No mention of Fred Miles on the back cover or on Willis Conover's liner notes.
  19. Don't overlook the 1940 Fargo date, the Webster-Blanton orchestra caught live in its full glory!
