  1. Aren't we all in agreement that it is Larry Young on organ - not Patton - on this one? Now spinning: Andrew Hill 'Point of Departure' (BN, mono)
  2. Thanks for the information, Peter! That Peter Bernstein seems a no-brainer. Have yet to be disappointed by any of his albums I have listened to!
  3. Contador and Schleck put an end to the dispute when they made up in stage 16, during the race and at the podium ceremony. Good move from the two! As for this year's race, can't remember a more exciting Tour in years!
  4. Oops, forgot about that Ocium CD which I have I'll be adding the information to the Lord Discography which is what I do when I find the discography is missing informations. There is no way an enterprise of a jazz discography that deals with hundreds of thousands of items can be a hundred percent accurate. From what I have seen, the Lord discography is the best tool of its kind available now.
  5. Charles Tolliver Select, disc 1
  6. To the best of my knowledge (and the Lord Discography), the session has not been released on CD.
  7. I bought several albums on the Smalls Record label (is this the same label?) a few years ago by Frank Hewitt and by Omer Avital which were all excellent. So did I. Love those Hewitt and Avitals, also the Gil Coggins and the Harry Whitakers. Smalls Live CDs come obviously from the same company. It seems to like the same type of music that shows on the Crisscross catalogue. Nothing wrong with that!
  8. Tricky one. I don't know how he lost his chain. Losing your chain will usually be a technical error, right? so it's not so clear cut. Losing his chain was his own fault. And it took lots of seconds to fix the chain. It was his problem. Schleck has only himself to blame! No reason for Contador not to go ahead! Schleck is a good rider. He will have plenty of opportunities to prove his worth!
  9. Don Cherry 'Eternal Rhythm' (MPS) with Albert Mangelsdorff, Eje Thelin, Bernt Rosengren, Sonny Sharrock, Karl Berger, etc...
  10. Just discovered this new label. I have listened to the Jim Rotondi album and liked it... Any others I should check? Smalls Live catalog
  11. So Contador took over the Tour lead in stage 15! A breathtaking race once more. Some commentators think Contador's yellow jersey is slightly soiled because he did not stop when the then leader Andy Schleck's bike chain fell off in the final climb and went on to the finish line without waiting for Schleck. Schleck who is now eight seconds behind Contador in the overall standings is out to claim revenge. The next Pyrenean stages will be really worth watching!
  12. Marcel Romano died in August 2007. He did not own the rights to the music of 'Les Liaisons Dangereuses 1960'. The soundtrack to the film music appeared on Fontana. Don't know who actually owns the rights to the music these days. The music that Romano recorded for that soundtrack with Thelonious Monk and Barney Wilen was never released on records. Romano had a copy of the Monk/Wilen session. Romano was a good friend and is very much missed.
  13. Zoot Sims 'Cookin'!' (Exclusive) a Portuguese reissue of the British Fontana Zoot at Ronnie Scott's original!
  14. No taker for this Wayne Dreamer!?! Night Dreamer It was relisted at $4,99...
  15. So how did he get that wrong?? 'cause he had the blues?
  16. Auction of a first pressing edition of Ascenseur has just been ended on ebay!
  17. Keno Duke/Contemporaries 'Sense of Values' (Strata-East) with George Coleman, Frank Strozier, Harold Mabern and Lisle Atkinson
  18. Richie Kamuca with Shelly Manne and his Men (Conte Candoli, Kamuca, Russ Freeman, Monty Budwig and Manne) play 'The Breeze and I' (not 'The Blues and I' as indicated) on 'Frankly Jazz' The Breeze and I
  19. Catching up on this. No version of '8-4-6-3-9-9-9' but there is a version of '6, 5, 7, 3'! Mais oui, there is a lively jazz scene on our West Coast! The Barry Harris Live in Rennes album can be downloaded here.
  20. A Happy Birthday to you
  21. Joe Chambers 'Double Exposure' (Muse) What a magnificent album this was!
  22. That 10incher with the added wording is more common even if one does not run on a good copy very often these days!
  23. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I did not purchase the LP at the time I saw it. It's gone now (hope it's in a good home now!).
