The Spanish fellows at American Jazz Classics (Disconforme, or whatever...) are beating The Estate at this game and are quietly releasing the Erroll Garner Columbia albums thanks to the EU copyright laws:
Available at Amazon.fr and other outlets...
Hopefully there will be more!
His releases on Concord are also worthy.
Same goes for his Arbors discs.
As a matter of fact, it's all good with Ruby Braff. I have yet to hear an album of his that fails to impress!
Just love his playing!
For anyone who still has not purchased the Holy Ghost box, ESP has a Summer Sale (until Monday August 9), it is available for $40!
A lot of very interesting items also available in this ESP Summer Sale
Videos on that Jazz Icons DVD came from a 1965 European tour. Mel Rhyne was not on that tour.
There does not seem to be any video of Wes and Mel together

The Donald Byrd-Bobby Jaspar Solar is a double CD that includes the full Paris Olympia concert of October 1958 that appeared on French Brunswick including 'More of the Same' from the same concert that came out on Italian bootlegs plus about half of the content of the Chat Qui Peche gig by the same group that was reissued a couple of years ago on FreshSound.
Sans distortion? Will have to dig out my copy today.
Sans distorsion!
Now spinning:
Steve Lacy 'The Flame' (Soul Note)
with Bobby Few and Dennis Charles
This was released as a limited edition of 1,000 copies.
Since the box was pretty rare until these days, this might have been true initially! Are the sets that are appearing now fresh brew?
