  1. The Spanish fellows at American Jazz Classics (Disconforme, or whatever...) are beating The Estate at this game and are quietly releasing the Erroll Garner Columbia albums thanks to the EU copyright laws: Available at Amazon.fr and other outlets... Hopefully there will be more!
  2. How lucky you are! This album has been on my radar for a long, long time. Would have gotten this with or without inserts!
  3. His releases on Concord are also worthy. Same goes for his Arbors discs. As a matter of fact, it's all good with Ruby Braff. I have yet to hear an album of his that fails to impress! Just love his playing!
  4. Buck Clayton Jam Sessions box, disc 3
  5. For anyone who still has not purchased the Holy Ghost box, ESP has a Summer Sale (until Monday August 9), it is available for $40! A lot of very interesting items also available in this ESP Summer Sale
  6. Sonny Stitt 'Now!' (Impulse, stereo, black and red label)
  7. If, by any chance, there is caviar and nobody wants it, I'll take it
  8. Videos on that Jazz Icons DVD came from a 1965 European tour. Mel Rhyne was not on that tour. There does not seem to be any video of Wes and Mel together
  9. Would you recommend this box set Brownie? (for a Cecil 'moderate' who likes his Blue Note sessions but listens to the free-er stuff in small doses ). I would not recommend it to anybody who is hesitant on Cecil Taylor. These are 10 CDs of often abrupt music. I personally am an immoderate fan and love these performances!
  10. Ted Curson 'Plenty of Horn' (Old Town/Denon Japan)
  11. Looks like it! I have listened to two of those '2 Ts...' boxes and both were OK!
  12. The Donald Byrd-Bobby Jaspar Solar is a double CD that includes the full Paris Olympia concert of October 1958 that appeared on French Brunswick including 'More of the Same' from the same concert that came out on Italian bootlegs plus about half of the content of the Chat Qui Peche gig by the same group that was reissued a couple of years ago on FreshSound.
  13. How much was that? $6 Great deal!
  14. Sans distortion? Will have to dig out my copy today. Sans distorsion! Now spinning: Steve Lacy 'The Flame' (Soul Note) with Bobby Few and Dennis Charles
  15. How much was that?
  16. PM on its way!
  17. Some other recent Solar Records releases:
  18. Well, it was a limited edition. The Guardian review at release time... I am pretty sure I saw somewhere the initial run was 1,000 boxes!
  19. This was released as a limited edition of 1,000 copies. Since the box was pretty rare until these days, this might have been true initially! Are the sets that are appearing now fresh brew?
  20. Horace Silver 'Song for my Father' (BN, mono, NY label, Van Gelder stamp)
  21. Glad I still have my mono original of this album!
  22. Yup, and liked it very much! Great job!
  23. I linked this video on the 'Return of the Film Corner' thread on July 20 (post 5584)
