Trouble ahead for Lance Armstrong

More pressing issues? Yes, yes yes... But I have dealt with these more pressing issues in my professional career for years and I'ld rather stick here with more mundane subjects. Beside I don't see any discussions on this Board about tragedies like the Pakistan floods, the heat wave in Russia, etc... to mention recent news. As for Contador he has been investigated a number of times. Nothing incriminating has been found yet. -

Trouble ahead for Lance Armstrong
brownie replied to brownie's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
The problem is mainly Lance Armstrong's own fault. If he had admitted several years ago that he was using non legal performance-enhancing substances - like so many riders have - all this would be a thing of the past. Or almost! And he would not be at the center of the current investigation. He has been too proud and too stubborn to admit drug violations. Now he has to deal with the current attacks. -
Lenny McBrowne and the 4 Souls (Pacific Jazz) prompted to listen to this by Romualdo's post in the Discography forum! A really good album!

Lennie McBrowne albums discussion
brownie replied to chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez's topic in Re-issues
I started looking for these Lenny McBrowne LPs after 'discovering' Don Sleet when Carrère France released Sleet's 'All Members' on their Jazzland France reissue label several decades ago. Found both of them and very happy with them. Chris Albertson wrote the liner notes for the Riverside album and may shed some western lights! -
Monk w. Trane Jazzland JLP 46

chewy you would have saved the trouble of getting this LP by purchasing this double CD More complete and with better sound (this vinyl fanatic was not too keen on the audio of that Jazzland release). -
Jack Parnell was quite a big jazz name in the British media when I started getting interested in the music in the early 50's... Nice obituary in The Telegraph today!

Neal was one of the greats, no argument, but it was Anne Bancroft in "The Miracle Worker" You're absolutely right! Brain failure here Patricia Neal was in the stage version but not in the movie!

He was excellent in Pierre Schoendoerffer's 'La 317ème Section', a unique film on the French Indochina war that preceded the Vietnam war -
Hope the new issue gives proper credit to Lee Friedlander who took the cover image on the original LP Friedlander's name disappeared from the credits on the Bluebird reissue

Bill Evans Trio 'Live in Buenos Aires 1979' (Yellow Note, Argentina), disc 2 the original vinyl version - a Mosaic type set - of this great concert is much better than the West Wind double CD reissue which is disfigured by way too much hum (not heard on LP)! The CD reissue should be avoided at all costs

A sublime actress who endured tragedies is gone The New York Times obituary. She was one of the very rare actresses who brought tears to this dry-eyed moviegoer in Arthur Penn's 'The Miracle Worker'!

There's also the wonderful 1976 reunion with Mal Waldron 'Like Old Times' on Japanese Victor/JVC. It came out on vinyl and does not seem to have been reissued ever! There's Mal, Jackie, Isao Suzuki and Billy Higgins! I purchased my copy from Fred Cohen's Jazz Record Center a number of years ago. Really surprising that the Japanese labels have not bothered to reissue it! I could not find an image for this LP!
