  20. French President Nicolas Sarkozy who is currently vacationing in the USA and who is not know for his interest in jazz sent however a communique mourning the passing on of Art Davis. This is the text in french as reported by AP France: Le président français Nicolas Sarkozy a salué, samedi, dans un communiqué, la mémoire de ce "grand musicien" et "humaniste". (AP) I'm sure Sarkozy never heard of him before yesterday. Hope Bush will also have now a memorial tribute to Art Davis!
  21. The Complete Billie Holiday Verve box, discs 5 and 6
  22. I like those Membran 10CD sets. They are very short on informations and some of them (not all) may be short on the number of selections but they are great value. They cost just under €10 ($13). I keep them in my car so that I can enjoy them whenever I am away from home and from my records. I'll probably get that Dizzy box. Being EU-made and since I am Yuropian, I have no bad feeling about acquiring those Membran!
  23. Happy Birthday

I may try to stop him next time I see him and ask If you do speak to him, please give him my thanks for his drawings. He's a wonderful, masterful artist. It would be my pleasure!
  25. Curtis Fuller 'Jazz ... It's Magic! (Savoy, mono, brown label) with Sonny Redd, Tommy Flanagan, George Tucker, Louis Hayes
