  1. Have a great one, Mike
  2. Rahsaan Roland Kirk 'Blacknuss' (Atlantic UK)
  3. Watch out with the herrings! Don't indulge too much or you'll be thirsty all the way to Israel!
  4. Sorry but I don't see any connection - artistic or esthetic not to speak of political -between OP and the Nuremberg gatherings that Riefenstahl filmed! None whatsoever! Nate, you may not be a fan of OP but he deserves better than this!
  5. Another unknown item... recorded when Doug Watkins and Art Taylor were in Paris with the Donald Byrd-Bobby Jaspar quintet back in 1958. Not listed in the usual discographies. There is another Arvanitas Joue Charles Aznavour - also oin Pretoria - listed in the Cote Europeenne du Jazz album price guide!
  6. This (Not for Sale) disc does not seem to be listed in EKE BBB's very thorough discography of Tete Montoliu
  7. This is what I have been doing for several decades. I have kept all the vinyls I purchased except for a couple of dozen LPs. I know a number of those vinyls are valuable (the full collection of the albums issued by Charles Mingus, a lot of original Sun Ra Saturns, a number of BN Lexingtons and Prestige 50th in excellent condition, many more including that Milford Graves-Don Pullen...). I intend to continue enjoying them for many years. I still have not finalised plans on what happens to them when I'll be gone! Still have time to take a decision!
  8. Wish this one would be reissued -_-
  9. Yeah! but where's Zoot?
  10. Great site on our man Wardell Gray! Photo from the site: Wardell Gray with Perez Prado and Clifford Brown!
  11. Mosaic confirmed the shipping of the Duke Ellington 36-40 Small Groups and the Woody Herman Columbia sets. Shipment was delayed as the Woody set was being back ordered. It's on its way here now This was very good use of a $250 Mosaic gift certificate!
  12. Cecil Taylor Feel Trio '2 Ts for a Lovely T' (Codanza)
  13. Al Cohn Meets the Jazz Seven 'Keeper of the Flame' (Frog)
  14. A very Happy Birthday to you
  15. Have a great one, Hans
  16. Beautiful part of southern France but a comprehensive visit would require at least a full week since you have to walk up to most of those castle sites! mikeweil already posted photos This site explains what the Cathars Castles are about! Here is a map.
  17. Fantastic site! First time I see the covers of several rare items. This one is a non-jazz trio date by Martial Solal recording under an alias!
  18. The Millau bridge is something to see... and fun driving over it but it's really off the main roads of south of France. Another must-see place if the medieval city of Carcassonne in the heart of southern France: http://www.carcassonne.org/ The surrounding countryside also provides gorgeous sceneries! Just so that you know, there has been lately an invasion of British citizens who prefer the local climate and sights to their homeground which means that if you happen to ask for road directions to a native, the person might answer you in english!
  19. The Modern Jazz Quartet 'At Music Inn, Guest Artist Jimmy Giuffre' (Atlantic, black label)
  20. Barcelona is better than a good place. The city is worth a visit of its own. But avoid driving inside the city. Also driving from Barcelona to France would enable you to enjoy crossing the glorious Pyrenees mountains. The roads are splendid specially if you enjoy tackling some curvy sections.
  21. Sal, may I suggest a visit to the Perigord and the Gers area. If you're looking for historic places, good food, pleasant wines you'll have a hard time finding a better area! Look up a map of France and search for the Auch and Périgueux cities. Sarlat in the Périgord is a must see small city. Sarlat The area should be avoided during the touristy Summer season. Roads are no problems there. As for driving from Barcelona into France, I presume you will have a rental car with Spanish plates which means you will cross the border without noticing you have changed countries. This is one of the glories of the EU. No more controls at customs! If you need more specifics, just ask!
  22. Mike Wofford Quartet 'Plays Jerome Kern' (Discovery), vol. 2 with Anthony Ortega
  23. Not really a substitute for Jazzmatazz' Upcoming Releases but at least this one is more helpful than what is currently available elsewhere... Thanks for posting a link!
  24. The Complete Paul Desmond-Jim Hall Quartet, LP 1
