How indeed ... isn't this something that would have been returned to Bob after the CD or LP pressing plant was finished? Would it be one of a kind Chuck? Or would their be multiple reels like this? I guess if you've got a great reel-to-reel it would be a great listening experience. I'd be more interested if it wasn't Chet and his annoying warble. (You may have other opinions about Chet and his singing.)

This can be a new release, an old recording that you purchased and couldn't stop listening to, or maybe an artist/band. I've had quite a few "instant favorite" purchases this year but I think the favorite discovery that I think others should check out is saxophonist Arnold Sterling. He had about a 5 year run in the early 1980s on records, but only one as a leader (Here's Brother Sterling, on JAM). Otherwise he worked for Jimmy McGriff and was one of, but not always the only, feature saxophonist. But all of the recordings by McGriff w. Sterling are very fine, especially The Groover which was also on JAM and is almost all Sterling's show as he is the only saxophonist. He otherwise kept plying his trade in Baltimore and I believe he died just a couple of years ago. He had a great, hard-as-a-diamond tone and could really blow on just about anything. These recordings aren't expensive to find and I'd recommend them without hesitation. What did you find that brightened the otherwise shit-storm that was 2020?

Thanks very much for sharing that ... interesting story, first, and also very interesting that Klabin had presumably a lot of recordings made for his radio show. I don't recall knowing anything about that and it leaves me wondering how many other high-quality recordings Klabin has that could be issued on Resonance in the future.

Not good. What I find frightening is CA reaching 1 million cases a few weeks ago, now on track for 2 million in a few days or less.

Well I'm a predictable participant but I've hardly done any purchasing this month and most that's been sent here has been FedEx or UPS. With them the problem is leaving it at the street, 300 feet away and not driving down the driveway - but not failure to adhere to scheduled delivery days.

I remember Bob telling me how the source was so much better than prior dubious releases ... he didn't mention that it was from Grant's archive. Would make sense though being recorded hopefully reel to reel back at the station.

Oh so we're talking about some time after what I thought was his heyday, hosting live shows in NYC clubs. I know nothing about what he did later on ... I thought the OP was asking about other tapes that might exist haven't seen a release. I know Grant tried to monetize some tapes he had, I think I have two releases on his label but it seemed like a short-lived effort. No idea if he died and no one carried it on or did it just fail as a going concern?

And now I can report that my brother got a positive result from a second Covid test. He remains with rather moderate symptoms; Mother-in-Law shows no effects thus far from her close contact last week.

Up, because of this: My own observations: It's f-ing annoying the way this is shot. It's way the f more annoying what this guy believes. "How" it became a Christmas movie, according to him, is ludicrous. It's a "Christmas" movie to some people because of the setting, music, and that message scrawled on the sweatshirt. Now this gets deep into politics so opinions will vary, but I know this: I have no desire to watch Die Hart for the 250th time. I'm done. This man has a net worth of $5 million dollars. He did quite well for himself in the unregulated capitalism of Hollywood, where they shamelessly kowtow to true authoritarians/evil MFers in China. Maybe I missed it when he said something about the willingness of Hollywood to look the other way so they can do business with China? Oh and did anyone know that he served time in Federal prison for perjury and lying to an FBI agent? I bet the thought they were authoritarians too. I didn't look for further details so if anyone wants to enlighten me about the circumstances, feel free. Your thoughts?

Well not to out myself but I have neither of the box sets you mention. I just find it a bit of major overkill, and very disappointing in the context of our expectation that Zev was being brought in for new BN issues of archival material by their contracted musicians, not a clear-out-the-vault exercise to extract money from rabid vinyl fans. I for one am very satisfied with whatever takes were deemed "best" when they issued the three disc box 20 or so years ago.

Wasn't it supposed to be established that the Fresh Sounds was a different location than the Lighthouse, so different performances than what was recorded by BN? Then I don't think you want to pitch your copy of that release. If it turns out that the Fresh Sounds recording will be duplicated in this too-much-of-a-good-thing release, that's even more reason to ignore this one.
