Hank Mobley with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.

Well you know I can help with the judging. -
Nope. Just about the opposite of Herb in terms of opportunities to record. Probably gave it away now.

But how many times do we see DBs who don't wrap up receivers and go for the "he's vulnerable, just need to give him a little bump here" "tackle"? Yesterday was Sue's birthday and we left right after the field goal. I didn't have a rooting interest so no interest whatsoever in staying around to verify the outcome. Quite surprised this morning to see what had happened.

Thanks Tom!

Well I did awaken to an email from Jorge, he said it shipped but didn't give details of what day or a tracking number. I thought they usually do that but at least I have his assurance its on its way so I guess all is good.
-
Is that the info@ email Hans? That's what I used. I've been usually very impressed with the speed of shipping although come to think of it I think my last order in November had a lack of communication too - though it seemed to be taking longer and I sent an email, which did not garner a reply.
-
That's the thing, I've ordered several times and had excellent service every time with rapid shipping times too. That free shipping over 80 euros is pretty good with their depth of stock. Then their website was down for weeks it seemed, when it came back I placed an order last weekend and nothing so far ... I think I saw a post in another thread that mentioned website troubles and things slipping thru cracks, hopefully that member will see this and post. And most importantly I get an email reply soon.

Anyone with recent experience with this usually reliable outfit? I ordered last Saturday and have received no emails, not even auto-reply acknowledgement let alone shipping confirmation. I know their website was down for a period of time but this is disappointing if they are still having issues. I've emailed them to find out but I am wondering if any others have recent experience with them. Thanks!

Seems not that comparable just because they were larger groups w. arrangements as opposed to what looks like small group blowing. I am kinda disappointed to find out Tommy Turrentine is only on two tunes but I'll probably still pull the trigger on this one.

Thanks to all; any comments on Kai Winding w. Curtis Fuller (w. Horace Parlan); Art Farmer A Sleeping Bee Vic Dickenson Plays Bessie Smith Philly Joe Jones, Mean What You Say ?

Lately a lot of my purchases have been facilitated by Discogs label search function and after receiving Red Rodney, Yard's Pad I began to wonder what other records in the catalog are worth seeking out. I have a few Sonets in the stacks, and I can see they did a lot of licensing deals for American releases but I'm curious what else I might consider. As always, thanks in advance!

There you go Thom, wanted to give you credit where its due before Jim comes in ...

This question reminds me of the fact that after I interviewed Eddie Higgins, he offered to get me in touch with his old friend Ira Sullivan. Ira asked about payment and that was the end of that.

Thanks to this site, I've landed a copy of Voices All, a Japan release - maybe the earliest of the reconstituted Jazztet? With Cedar on piano and covering many of the best Golson compositions: https://www.discogs.com/Jazztet-Voices-All/release/4680988

Um ... sorry that it's so hard? Hopefully someone will come in soon and sweep up a few.

Only 25 miles? I'm going straight to demanding a refund if I were you. Or else your experience will be the worst of all time and should be pinned in my own "USPS Sucks" thread.

A very worthy endeavor and nicely done. And now I'm on the hunt for some Japanese Jazztet releases I had no idea existed.

If its never hit the tracking system, the guy didn't ship and is lying to you. That would be my supposition based on the facts at hand. I'd say you should continue to wait to the end of the range of shipping dates, or don't even bother demanding a refund. You can go thru Amazon customer service (I always use the chat system) to ask for a refund.

Obscure Albums You've Heard and Think Everyone Else Should

And after a late arriving Amazon gift card I purchased Blue Bogey and Africa Calling as downloads over the weekend; listened this AM and enjoying immensely. so thanks to all who mentioned this unsung player. May have to see what else is out there now ... -
Lee Morgan Film
Dan Gould replied to danasgoodstuff's topic in Jazz In Print - Periodicals, Books, Newspapers, etc...
I didn't realize think there was a DVD release I thought it was pay for play on youtube. Now I see Amazon does sell it, as a burn-on-demand offer. Truth be told even though its 5x the cost I am seriously thinking about that option. I had been waiting for proper broad-band to be installed before finally seeing this but having a copy to keep is very tempting. -
It's about contributing what you can, when you are able. We have enough members for whom $50 USD (and even more) is not a huge deal. Every bit helps and no one should think that $50 is some minimum contribution.

Wasn't that what Transcription Services were, as in the Savory Collection?

Wait a minute. Rock Island Illinois?

Thanks for indulging me, Thom. Your comments are always interesting even when a number of tracks did not click for you. As you've probably seen, Round Midnight was already identified; I'm guessing that Jay McShann did not occur to you on the first pass thru. This was the response I kinda expected from those not familiar with this solo recording. And you are right on #6 of course. Thought Leo Wright was a nice surprise soloist for a BFT. I am going to let your other musings set for a while and let others join in. I'm sure a few will be identified before the big reveal.
