Maybe you should take a look at other posts to see if anyone else has already reported this.

So does anyone think the Red Sox are legit? I do think Lester and Buchholz will mostly keep up what they'v been doing, and the bullpen should remain a major strength. What actually concerns me is that the Yankees haven't stumbled, they are banking wins before any of their best players are even back off the DL. They may be dangerous, assuming their elderly stars don't suck when they come back.

You may think this is photo-shopped but its legit! http://www.foxsportsflorida.com/blog/bonus-play/story/Rays-reporter-discovers-close-call-while?blockID=897167&feedID=3798

Very cool!! :tup

The crux of the problem with the "Jack Morris pitched to the score" argument. If he pitched to the score, shouldn't he have been freakin' awesome when his team didn't score a lot of runs?

I was going to write that the Times used to have half-way decent editors who would catch such errors but then I began to wonder - how exactly did she come up with such remarkably creative 'facts' as Coltrane-as-bebop-pioneer? So, no, she isn't required to be a jazz expert for the gig she has. But she's also not entitled to make up shit.

Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival 2013

Very cool Mike. On the photos - if you have it, try opening them in MS Office Picture Manager. Then you can click "Edit" and choose 'compress" to get the photos to a size that is uploadable. Or of course you could use a photo hosting site and just link. -
It sure as hell looked like interference to me, and that's how it looked like the outfielder was reacting too. So instead he's just a douchebag.

Sad news, he was unjustly neglected IMHO. Will definitely spin his Delmarks soon.

What an absolute fucking asshole, I'd like to see the GIF of him being cuffed, right on the spot, not just escorted off the premises. And banned for life from every major league park. Did your team's fans let the guy know he's a POS?

Does double-fisted drinking count?

That's ridiculous. Superfluous political commentaries should be edited by the mods so that the discussion, which was still fundamentally about music, can remain in the, you know, music section of the board. So, in between the "Thatcher is Dead - Hip Hip HOORAY" and "Why do Tea Baggers Take the Second Amendment so Darn Seriously?" threads is one about the Clapton/Marsalis collaboration?

Al, no worries on the lateness of the comments, they were worth the wait, as they always are. Glad you liked most everything on the disc.

Not too much from me as not many tracks triggered many ideas and some definitely fell flat for me but as always thanks MG for an interesting comp, I'm sure the reveal will surprise at least a couple of times. Track 1 - Jim called it eccentric, I say "meh". My first thought was that the recording speed is wrong or the trumpet is out of tune. Track 2 - going to say this is a 70s recording and as a wild, crazy off-the-wall guess, could it be one of Johnny Otis' live concerts? Track 3 & 4 - Liked both but no guesses. Track 5 - I'm sorry but I couldn't get past the flute solo. Track 6 - Misty is a tune I honestly wish had never been written. Hate hate H - A - T - E it. So, you know, no guesses. Track 7 - Rather non-descript R&B to me. Track 8 - See track 3 and 4. Track 9 - Ernie Andrews? Track 10 - is this the first known cover of "St Louis Blues"? Feels about that old. Next. Track 12 - I feel like I should know this vocalist; regardless I like this track the best of the group, and its not close. Track 15 - Irene Reid? Mary Stallings? Ernestine Anderson, after her "bitch" days? I'm out of guesses. Bonus Tracks: No ideas but I'm anxious to know as I liked both of these.

Film critic Roger Ebert (70) has died
Dan Gould replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I have no idea if you are right or not Larry but is it not possible that Ebert actually liked the film? Its not exactly a valentine to Coppolla as he says up front that lots of people hate the film. Further, isn't it possible that the people 'in the know' are working backwards from the assumption that Ebert couldn't have possibly liked "(blank)" so he must have given it a positive review to cultivate favor with (the director, the writer, the lead actor)? I mean, short of his editors blabbing that they had a meeting and convinced Ebert to 'take a dive', where's the real evidence? -

From the Boston Globe blog, Touching All The Bases. The Trot Nixon and Mariano Rivera comments are classic but I am sure many other off-base assessments can be found.

I could be wrong but I think he's the pianist on For the Guv'nor. I think he also recorded with Dexter.

Thanks, HP. Its funny though because the alternative BFT programming idea I toyed with was an 80 minute disc of gimmes. Coltrane playing Blue Train, Miles doing My Funny Valentine, things like that, so anyone not getting at least 90% would be . Maybe next time - I guess I owe you guys one. But I think the best part of any BFT is what you alluded to ... introducing previously unknown recordings that really strike the participants and make them want to seek out more.
