  1. Until now I'd never encountered anyone who didn't enjoy the film. Hell, my father laughed at it when we watched it on VHS and he hated rock 'n roll.
  2. That's an incredibly optimistic statement.
  3. If anyone deserves a banishment its Mr. Hate who comes here to shit on members and the board itself. We'll handle Goodie, Mr. Hate should go back from whence he came.
  4. I lost track of Sandler after he left MTV's Remote Control.
  5. Most to blame for Sandusky's abuse post-2001: McQueery. He failed to inject himself into the situation he says he witnessed, to stop a crime as it occurred. That assuredly kept the police from finding the victim and stopping Sandusky then. But contra Goodie, second most to blame is Paterno, who was informed of what McQueery witnessed but did nothing to make sure it was investigated, and this came after Paterno assuredly knew about the prior investigation of Sandusky showering with young boys. I'm not at the front of the "blame Paterno" bandwagon, but Goodie's exoneration of him (and I think that is the right word) is misplaced.
  6. Well if Tony J. is back for number 100, I gotta be in. Download, please!
  7. Personally I'd keep them in a nice cool car if possible, but more importantly, how the hell are you fitting 3000 LPs in a Brooklyn apartment?
  8. The biggest problem with the Penn State administration isn't that they allowed Sandusky to retire a year after the 1998 shower incident was investigated and no charges were filed. Its that they said, collectively, "Oh, good - Jerry is going to concentrate on his charitable work with kids now."
  9. Just a point of clarification: Sandusky was not on Paterno's staff when McQueery witnessed the shower incident (I'll call it that out of respect for the jury's decision). He had "retired" after the 1998 (99?) incident in which the police investigated his showering with another boy. And, in regards to the discussion before - Sandusky isn't a run of the mill child predator. His celebrity makes him a child predator with a bullseye on him. No one can predict the future but I say the odds are at least 50/50 he dies at the hands of another inmate.
  10. You'd have to live under a rock to be ignorant of the fact that there is a pecking order in prison and that child abusers are the lowest of the low. Do all incarcerated child abusers get killed? I'm sure they don't. Doesn't mean that Sandusky won't suffer that fate, or that absent protective custody he won't get gang-raped or brutally beaten.
  11. I seem to recall that one of the worst pedophile priests was killed by an inmate very shortly after he was convicted and incarcerated - within months, iirc. I'd be shocked if Sandusky doesn't suffer the same fate.
  12. I'm a bit younger than Paul, but I feel the same way.
  13. The NBC interview can't be used by the prosecution because of the right of the accused not to testify. Had he chosen to testify, it could then be used in cross-examination to impeach whatever BS Sandusky would have said on the stand. All that is moot since they didn't call him to the stand.
  14. I really don't get where you're going MG. Just as one example - B.B. King had his hits - or most of them - playing in front of a "small" big band. The music is indistinguishable from several of the artists you list as being "R&B".
  15. I think that's highly debatable. A lot of those names recorded tunes considered to be R&B. Is it not uncalled for to consider "urban" blues to be R&B, or that blues/r&b became nearly interchangeable terms in that era?
  16. Intent or not, you have hammered him, and if I were in his shoes I would be saying "fuck it". Hell, if I were on your supposed xanax prescription, I'd still say "fuck it".
  17. yeah, just what we all need - a hammering from an "industry professional" that does nothing but encourage Larry to say "fuck it".
  18. I'm surprised MG didn't mention Junior Parker. Honey Drippin' Blues on Mercury's Blue Rock subsidiary has some great almost pure-soul cuts. I know the Duke sides are essential, and Allen will say the Sun sides are more so, but I loves me Junior's Mercury recordings, too.
  19. "Con-man" Larry? As in, not really a musician at all, just pretending to be one? That's harsh and highly inaccurate if you ask me. To each their own, you don't like his playing, makes no never mind to me. But I do note that you hold against him his own neuroses, rather than pointing out any specific artistic short-comings.
  20. Larry, since taking posts on a duplicate thread and adding them into the existing one is such a pain in the posterior, how about simply closing the duplicate thread with a post along the lines of "if you posted here please re-post your thoughts here." And send a sternly worded PM to the repeat offender who started the duplicate thread. Then mods wouldn't feel quite so put-upon on this part of the non-paying job.
  21. Sweets Edison, until the very end, kept doing the exact same thing he ever did. I loved it, but I wouldn't say in any way that he got better with age.
  22. Funny, the way I've heard it is "what's the best Jewish wine?" "I wanna go to Miami!"
