0 Branford, probably 12-15 Wynton leader dates

Nothing is happening to change my mind about this. Sad. Very, very sad. Oh well... For the Rangers to miss the playoffs entirely, the Angels or Rays would have to overtake them. They have a four game lead on the Angels and a four 1/2 game lead on the Rays. One loss by the Angels and the Rangers at least clinch the wild card play-in game. I'm pretty sure they'll play after October 3.

Does Kickstarter allow for an extension? They really should ... As soon as my bonus check comes in I'll be on board.

Doin Allright is terrific and shouldn't be missed. I still haven't voted on this one becaue its really impossible to choose. It would be easier to pick the least favorites which would be Dexter's Calling, Landslide and Our Man in Paris but only because I reach for those less frequently than Doin Allright, One Flight Up, Go and Swingin' Affair. But they're all great. Just those latter four are a bit greater for me. Was surprised to realize I could still vote on this one ... and I went with One Flight Up. That would be followed by: Doin Allright Swingin' Affair Go Clubhouse Gettin Around Our Man In Paris Dexter's Calling/Landslide

Isn't that Timmons/Sonny Redd track from here: http://www.allmusic.com/album/live-at-the-connecticut-jazz-party-mw0000600445 its much more than one track.

Well you guys got me curious so I went for a couple of Chobani flavors at Publix last weekend - black cherry and apple/cinnemon. For having double the sugar of the Yoplait low-calorie brand, I expected a lot sweeter taste. Creamier, sure, but the flavor wasn't doing it for me. I'll stick with Yoplait.

The former Gene Harris Fanatic requires Concord, then Blue Note and I'm thinking Verve gets you an awful lot of swing masters at their mature stage, plus Bird so that's pretty good.

I don't remember but I got this orignally and didn't keep it. And y'all know how I feel about hard bop, whether original or second-generation.

James Williams & Bobby Watson "Soulful Serendipity"
Dan Gould replied to jazzmessenger's topic in New Releases
I got this one back then and the track I used on a BFT was well-received. I give it a big -
What I've always said is that contemporary R&B is all R and no B.

That sounds appalling. But to each their own.

Are Evanston IL and Forest Park IL adjacent, and is there a USPS facility that straddles those two cities? I ask cuz I find this tracking info kinda surprising: So my CD arrived in Evanston and departed, 13 hours later, from Forest Park?
-
And I figured they did it because Amazon expects them to ship immediately, so they just print out the label and pretend ... but that make smore sense, get the money quicker.
-
Similar but different complaint: Marketplace sellers who submit that they've "shipped" the item when in fact they've only printed out the label with the tracking info, and its three days later before the USPS even gets their hands on it. Now we'll see if its really going to take two more weeks to get to south Florida from Chicago, Media Mail. :excited:

Thanks everybody. It was a fine birthday, with Mom springing for a new, super-nice guitar just like this one except the electronics are supposed to be better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7nvJm-vaEw and since car problems kept us from going to the B.B. King Blues club for dinner, my wife made it up by getting tickets for Ron White's January appearance in Fort Lauderdale which should be awesome. And what might be best of all is that later this week my buddy Tom will be sharing a pro-shot video of the Ray Brown Trio. Yes, 12 1/2 years after he died, I'll get some new, never-heard Gene Harris.
-
Ironic you'd bring him up as just this past weekend I refilled the CD case for my car and among the "long forgotten" discs I pulled from the binders was a number of his earlier recordings on Concord. I wasn't aware of a new CD but I am definitely looking forward to hearing his older discs. The Cannonball influence is pretty strong but I still dig him.

D'OH! Sorry I didn't notice your location ... probably will be more expensive to ship them back over the pond.
-
I'd contact Peter first. IIRC his prices were quite fair and he should have everything that is in print.

Had to happen eventually.

Why is anyone engaging this little shit? He is a typical 20-something, no different than he was at any time in his entire life: he's running around screaming "look at meeeeee!" and "you people SUCK!" and we're doing just what he wants: paying attention.

Monterey Jazz Festival Records: what happened?
Dan Gould replied to CJ Shearn's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Care to elaborate? My birthday is coming up and I've asked my brother to re-instate my subscription, which lapsed a year ago when he failed to make good on my birthday request then. So I'd love to know what you object to, in case it makes me want to change my mind. -
I took a chance on this record based on James Clay's presence on the date and was glad I did.

Howard McGhee - Plays Music from "The Connection"
Dan Gould replied to Head Man's topic in Discography
I bought the Payne/Drew version back in January and found that the sum was less than the parts. OK, no more. -
My understanding has always been that we don't link to sharity blogs or to bit-torrent sites. Those are the ONLY verboten links, because they are explicitly violating copyright laws. It has never been said that links to commercially available recordings are not allowed. Haven't we had links to Pujols label releases or Absolute Distributors site? Jim's worries were about wholesale violation of copyright and the potential impact on the band. Show me where he's ever said "don't link to bootlegs". Perhaps we should ban links to Wolfgang's Vault too ... I've heard that at least some bands aren't getting paid by them.
