Thanks for the suggestion Conrad but its not really an issue for me. Plus we've got one of those faucet filter thingamabobs, works pretty good. -
Weight Loss through Water consumption

Theoretically it ought to be better - more caffeine, more energy, more calorie burning, right? but I think the idea is plain water. Its funny though - other guys whose weight has gone up and then down can attest to this I am sure - but when I bought these pants originally, I'm quite sure I was pissed because I was buying a bigger size. Now, when its the same size as it ever was, I'm psyched because I fit into them again. Its all in the perspective. -
Weight Loss through Water consumption

I drank it until about a year ago when the girls in the office tried to convince me that if I'd cut out my diet soda consumption, the weight would fall off. So I did and saw zero change. I switched to water, mostly, with iced tea if I am out and the occasional beer. -

I think I'll take it with 30 glasses of water - that's how I'm going to test this theory, be very consistent with it for 30 days and see what happens. It was my boss who recommended it; my problem is that if I didn't leave a glass of water on the counter the night before, I'd sleepwalk through feeding the dogs, pouring my coffee and trudging back upstairs and never drink the magical glass of water. -
I know all about the "drink lots of water through the day" theory of weight loss. But can anyone confirm or deny the theory that a big glass of water first thing in the morning "jump-starts" your metabolism and aids in weight loss? Since October I've stuck with the "eat small meals more often" plan and its kinda weird - my weight came down about 8 pounds by New Years, and not changed a bit since then. Yet last weekend I discovered that three pairs of pants I couldn't wear before now fit comfortably, and I am actually two notches tighter in my belt. My only exercise since late January has been this plan: http://www.hundredpushups.com/ which I've done pretty well with but I don't see how a pushup regimen would produce the kind of muscle mass gain that would counteract what is clearly coming off of my waist. Anyway - I'm obviously pleased with the way my fitness is improving but I am wondering if anyone can vouch for this "glass of water first thing in the A.M." theory.

If its not priced ridiculously, I can't imagine why it wouldn't be worth hearing. But I have no specific knowledge of the grooves, only knowledge of the players, and I can't imagine they fail to deliver the old bebop trio thing.

I thought this was a link to the best Asian news source for the upcoming election. -
I say go for it. We could use some more gay Hello Kitty fans as members.

+1 (and don't forget "My Baby's Quit Me" from the same CD!)

Yes. OK prices, never shipped when I didn't want them to, and some rare CDs occasionally (I think in particular of More Cookin' at Carlos, a Music Masters issue of a Benny Carter concert. I never saw it elsewhere, don't know if it was really unique to the Club.

Sorry; I should have quoted Bertrand's post to make it plain I was responding to him.

Hank's new record- its own thread
Dan Gould replied to chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez's topic in New Releases
I am so glad this one lives up to (and actually surpasses) expectations. Hank if fantastic and so is Bennie. Walter Davis is just OK, I thought, but hardly detracts. What an incredible unexpected treat. If its not historic like the Bird/Diz Townhall release, its still very special, Hank at the cusp of his career and sounding so good. -
There's been a lot of discussion over the years of Jazz Heritage Society but obviously you missed it. So the short answer to your question is: They sell legitimately licensed recordings and none of them are CDRs.

Hank's new record- its own thread

I'm sitting down with this later today but since no one else has taken note of it, I'll just say that the best words in Blumenthal's notes come at the end: About the only better word he could have used would have been "many" but I'll take "several" reissues like this one. Could mean that we'll be hearing the LD with Horace Silver, and the Hank with Johnny Coles. Or maybe there are a couple no one knows about. Either way its excellent confirmation of what I was hoping for ... that there is more to come! -
Wherever you are I hope you're doing well.

I went all blues, as I kind of expected to: Nashville Jumps: R&B from BULLET 1946-1953 (Krazy Kat Records) Had to go for it to hear B.B. King's earliest sides. Fenton Robinson, Blues in Progress (Black Magic) San Francisco Blues Festival Volume 3 (Solid Smoke) Featuring Big Mama Thornton and Sugar Pie DeSanto Anthology of the Blues: Memphis Blues (Kent) A comp, mostly of the Wolf. The price was definitely right. In fact the price was pretty good overall: $25 spent for four LPs. And as it turned out, I was smart not to bother with Radioactive Records - I didn't even know they had moved and wouldn't have found them at their old location anyway. All but the Fenton Robinson was found at the warehouse of a guy who mostly just sells at record shows. No crowds to contend with there.

Grant Green ... Junior.

So what was purchased, if anything? I'll post mine when I get home later today ...

Mine is to finish ahead of Baltimore. $178 million dollar payroll has to, doesn't it? And with no equivocation whatsoever, that will be my final comment on the 2012 baseball season.

Sorry to hear this. Virgil makes a nice foil for Teddy Edwards on Midnight Creeper. RIP.
