  1. I am glad Felser's BFTs have such a welcoming audience from certain members but let's face it, that ain't me. OTOH, BFT237 has led me to coin a phrase: Agitation Saxation tm. There's a plethora of sax coming up on my January effort (I was almost concerned about a lack of variation in solo instruments) but the style could not be more different than what we have on most tracks here: Note running. Blappity blap blap SPLAT. No story. Hell no melody I'd want to hear again. I'll stop with the complaining because it's all a matter of taste, and there are plenty here who will love John's tunes. It's just not my cuppa. Track 1: I can't say I hated it but it did wear out its welcome about 45 seconds before this short track ended. More of the saxophone would have helped, and I promise I will never say that again in this post. <green smilie thingie here> Track 2 - 3: Agitation Saxation. Track 4: OK in its moody vibe. Track 5: No thanks. Track 6-8: See Tracks 2-3. Track 9: Thankful for the break from post-Coltrane Saxation but not my thing. Track 11: Sorry those vocals were torturous for me. Track 12: Different than the rest but not sure the point of the extended mellow intro and it didn't do too much for me from there. Too 70s for me. So 1, 4 and 12 were the least objectionable, such as they were. Thanks John!
  2. Yeah and it's all good ... personally I have never thought of a reveal needing to breathe or have its own time in the BFT spotlight. People come to it on their own schedules anyway.
  3. It never occurred to me to ask but I guess the whole show was these jam sessions? Nobody had individual sets with a working group? I guess a result of less time to program than Newport?
  4. well you opened it up by posting your reveal. You gonna be offline soon?
  5. Well that would be me - not a big deal in terms of ease or effort. Was mostly thinking of how this would cover February and also making for a shorter listening experience.
  6. They must have gotten good distribution and some sales though as they aren't hard to find if you like the vinyl side. Thanks to Jim for an excellent choice. It must have been excellent for me to have puzzled it out.
  7. Which one? Two months to comment on a single BFT or two separate ones covering February/March?
  8. You're in. And I had a thought that I will put out there: February is also open - what about splitting up participants into two BFTs covering 239 and the big 24-oh? 10 tunes per month would allow no implied limit on length. Or, a single BFT covering two months, no track limit, and lots of time for participation. Just a thought I had as the sign ups continue.
  9. Glad you posted this GoM as it reminded me to send also.
  10. Cano is 41. Gregorius is only 33. Cano fits better with Sandoval and Bartolo Colon but Gregorius ...?
  11. Looked like an average Marlins game attendance. And Didi Gregorious is playing? Its not been that long since he was starting for the Yanks has it?
  12. Soft spot here for "Lucky Old Sun" which I heard on some compilation that I couldn't even find on discogs. I consider that the first "vocal" I heard by Benson because I knew the other hits already mentioned here (and which I also have a soft spot for) before I knew anything about jazz so they are colored by a certain ingrained pop memory.
  13. Yes we did, and DrJ is now added to the list of participants! Wondering what is proper pride of place? First or last? Decisions, decisions.
  14. I'll be reaching out about selections around middle of February - Figure February 20 deadline. And yes would be asking for MP3s sent to my email so I can send all up to Thom's server.
  15. To be sure I have tried DMing him here, this morning.
  16. Good idea! I imagine Hoffman has PMs? Maybe someone could reach out to let him know and maybe he'd provide a tune himself?
  17. Dibs on a minute and a half, if I stick with my first choice. Or I might be a carbon creditor myself.
  18. The Tony Jerant Memorial BFT Celebration is still open for signups thru the end of November!
  19. So used to tours having sponsors but this is f-ing brilliant. I saw an ad on a Tampa tv station and when I told my wife that the Stones are sponsored by AARP she laughed and she laughed. I am surprised they haven't hooked up sooner; if they were Americans, they could have been AARP members almost 20 years ago.
  20. This is the pinnacle for me with Ella.
  21. Done and we only need one more contributor!
