  1. Well, its not the greatest time-waster, cuz I only wanted to play once. 6/10 (and I did best on the hardest ones, go figure).
  2. I honestly did not believe the Yanks could lose tonite, even with the rookie making his second start. I figured that staring last place in the face, they'd get the offense going and avoid this embarrasment. Which leads us to the poll question (hope you guys who hate this Sox/Yanks focus enjoy that last option). As much as I half expected a poor season, I never imagined anything this bad and have a hard time believing it will continue. But I will say this: Womack can't stay in left field, not the way he hits. And he's so short-how many drives go over his head or just beyond his reach before they realize he's not a left fielder?
  3. I've not seen LD but I've heard many private recordings of his sets and the similarity of playlists is obvious, but I am quite sure it has nothing to do with any limitation on his ability or have anything to do with age either. I'm sure its a combination of what Jim said (doing a "show" not a "set") and what Mike said (new pianist).
  4. This is true, Allen, but before you joined our happy little community, over on the BNBB, there was a wonderful post from Tom at Blue Note about getting contact info for Jutta Hipp, who was living somewhere in the five boroughs, Brooklyn, maybe, and how stunned and thrilled she was when a fairly sizeable check was personally delivered to her. So, some labels do try to do right.
  5. "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig Kurt Angle Pythagoras
  6. I have received my copy from MartyJazz. Not sure when I'll get to listen, but I have it.
  7. Man, I am P.O'd. When I saw this listed on Alan's site, I was psyched for more, unheard Dex with Kenny Drew. Then I saw the tune list and went, what the fuck? This was just released! For the life of me I can't imagine why this has gone into print, out of print, and been reissued in the space of barely 18 months.
  8. Lou Donaldson Donald Bailey Phillip Bailey
  9. Chet Baker Chet Atkins Dr. Atkins
  10. Thomas Sowell Thomas Hardy Stan Hardy
  11. Yeah, Brown and the first inning is just getting ridiculous, especially after his last start when he pitched OK at the start. For your sake, RJ's groin better be a minor tweak and not a trip to the DL.
  12. Jackie Chan Charlie Chan Warner Oland Warner Wolf (New Yorkers know who I'm talkin 'bout) Len Berman Bill Mazur
  13. We can do a little better than that.
  14. I'm not sure which one you're referring to, but for the record, I did have a thing for Kimberly.
  15. Blair Tootie Mrs. Garrett

  19. Got a reply from Lance Evans, webmaster for www.franklyjazz.com - he hopes to finish the site sometime this year, and at that point he hopes to be selling video of his father's program. Here's hoping he does!
  20. Eric Idle John Cleese Brian of Nazareth
  21. William Goldman Dustin Hoffman Lawrence Olivier
  22. Jessica Simpson Ashlee Simpson Milli Vanilli
  23. And yes, Tom Gordon should definitely be a worry, just as Foulke is for the Sox. Based on age and past consistency, I expect Foulke to come out of it quicker than Flash, but they gotta get their shit together soon.
  24. Dave, I don't think Torre's job is at stake so much as Cashman's. Note there's no more talk about re-signing him, and his contract expires after this year. As for Matsui, yeah, he's fundamentally sound but he's not the guy to patrol a big patch of turf. And his quick release and generally accurate arm aren't going to work too well in centerfield either. And who knows how Womack handles left? I don't see him gunning a lot of people down, though I imagine his speed will allow him to cover some ground. I think this is going to be temporary and that it was partially forced by Bernie's injured elbow. If he can at least throw like he did last year, he's probably still a better choice than Matsui. It will probably all depend on what this rookie does at second base. If he forces his way into the lineup, than the shake-up stays, or maybe they move Bernie back to center if his elbow problem clears up.
  25. He came to New York City and played at the Blue Note last summer. I don't know what his plans are right now, though.
