This disc is a motherfucker alright. Both the sessions with Fontella Bass and People in Sorrow. Every release I pick up I like more than the last one! It sounds like it's a needle-drop from a record, particularly at the beginning of the first tune. Is it not from the master tapes?

I like it. I want to go check out the rest of the Montreal series now. GregK.

I think che does exist on the AAJ board as someone named Andy D. No shit? Is he still an active member? Not sure. I haven't been on that board in a while. But the only reason I make that assumption (and I hereby apologize if I am wrong) is that there probably aren't too many socialist jazz fans from the UK who announce on jazz bulletin boards about their travel plans to Halifax, Canada this summer. Che did that on this board, Andy D did on the AAJ board. Of course, there could be two people making that trip who happen to share similar poltical views and musical tastes, but Halifax just isn't the biggest travel destination so the chances are slim, I'd say.

I recieved my replacement Shakedown Street yesterday, replacing the defective one in the Beyond Description box set. Honestly, since that disc isn't one that I listen to very often, I can't even remember where it skipped!

where can I find People in Sorrow?

I really like the design of the Coltrane Impulse! CDs, but the digipaks get destroyed quickly. I try to take care of them, I have them isolated in a shelf by themselves away from regular CDs, and yet they still get scratched, scuffed, faded and worn no matter how careful I am. Very frustrating

Looks like I may have to get that Frank Wright disc now, with the 15% Borders coupon that just came out.

this makes me appreciate the Art Ensemble box set even more.
