  1. While I won't disagree that the ladies are pleasing to the eye, I would very strongly disagree that the show is pure eye candy. Don't turn the sound down as this is one of the wittier and better written shows on TV, despite its superficially soapish themes. yeah, and those articles in Playboy are great too!!
  2. how limited are they if you can get some of them in BMG?
  3. Found & bought a new copy today. I bought a new copy on ebay 2 weeks ago for $16 total, from a seller in WA
  4. PayPal is good for me. Checks are best, but PayPal is convenient
  5. is there any other?
  6. yes. and, i think it may the last one of the season, but reruns for this show are always welcome! turn the sound down and enjoy!
  7. That is great!! I really hope to educate my kids in the same way.
  8. yep, and it's a damn fine package too. I'm an idiot for getting it on release day for $109 or something like that instead of waiting and getting it for $34 from yourmusic, but I guess that's a fetish too

To reiterate from the NY Times article: "Monday's concert was the first of four sold-out shows being filmed for the inevitable DVD; plans beyond that have not been announced." I'd much prefer a CD to a DVD. Who needs to see them?
  10. why are these out of print anyway? that just ain't right
  11. I wonder if there is any chance for a Nessa autobio?
  12. I'll snap up Albertson's autobio and his Armstrong book as soon as possible!
  13. Allman Brothers will be at Bonnaroo this year
  14. The new Ryan Adams and the Cardinals is pretty spectacular. More of a country-ish sound than his previous couple albums, almost like early 70s Neil Young
  15. But that's exactly the problem. If it won't play in my computer, then I can't burn it. And I can't put it on my mp3 player. Any other CD I have can.
  16. Reno is a graphic description of an encounter with someone, who has lost his lover, with a prostitute. Not the best song on the record, but really not worth all the big deal press it seems to be getting. I'm hoping it gets rereleased in a more sensible format. I'd like to listen to it on my discman or load it onto my mp3 player, neither of which I can do now. Oh, the DVD side plays in DVD players only.
  17. Word from Pi also that they may be releasing a live album from the current Art Ensemble (from April 2004), sometime next year
  18. I absolutely HATE this ridiculous dualdisc format. It won't play in my discman, or the computer, and when I try to take it out, I can't help but get fingerprints on the DVD side, which is up when it is played as a CD. Why not just release it as CD + DVD? Why have video content at all? Totally pointless. The lyrics are in the booklet. I don't want to have to turn the TV on to listen to music! Good record though
  19. Devils and Dust is a good record, but it's really nothing at all like Tom Joad. There is more optimisim, more of a rock sound, and less folk-ish melodies. If anything it's slightly more country-rock than folk-rock. It really doesn't sound like anything else he's done, maybe Tunnel of Love (in terms of instrumentations and melodies) but it really shouldn't be compared to the Tom Joad or Nebraska records. It isn't as much a folk album as those were. It's very good, not nearly as great as The Rising was, but the songs are just as interesting. It also isn't a political record like Tom Joad- only the title song has any kind of a political theme. The rest largely deal with relationships, such as mother-son. I recommend catching his current solo tour, too. I saw him on opening night in Detroit and it was great. I also saw him for the Tom Joad tour, and this one had a lot more going on. The music was more varied, and there were no hits played at all. He played all but two of the new songs, with some piano, one on electric guitar and one (Reason to Believe) was sung through his harmonica with him stomping out the beat on the floor. Very good show. LOTS of talking, intros, etc by Bruce. Oh, the new record is only on DualDisc, which is a shame. This is a dumb format. It won't play in a couple of my CD players, and when I take it out I can't help but get fingerprints on the DVD side (which is "up" when it's in the player for the CD side). Why people must have video content I'll never understand
  20. always free shipping from yourmusic.com, with the same titles and lower prices.
  21. huh. I had no idea Charles Lloyd was black. Guess I just never thought about it. Great disc!
  22. I haven't seen new ECM reissues for a very long time. 85% of their catalog is available, and the remaining OOP titles will probably never be reissued on CD. Some Steve Kuhn reissues were announced on jazzmatazz but never materialized. I'm referring to straight reissues of older titles. I recall looking for some Keith Jarrett titles in late 2000 or early 2001 and was told that they were being reissued that year. Nothing different, same mastering, packaging, etc., just reissued.
  23. Doesn't ECM periodically reissue many titles? Maybe they are preparing to do that. I know that in 2000 a lot of their older titles were reissued.
  24. Which ones are you referring to? I've noticed there are a few that I have ordered from Amazon that have the Made in Germany sticker on them, and they seem to be from an older batch, possibly produced in the 80s (they still have those archaic compact disc audio blurbs on the last page of the booklet).
