  1. I was looking around at JC today, and look what I discovered! http://www.jazzcorner.com/speakeasyframe.html It's our man Sangrey quoted on another board. It's time to publish millions of copies of 'Quotations of Chairman Sangrey' and insist that everyone memorize it!(Boring jacket optional)
  2. I ordered three discs- each disc was 1500 yen, and the total was $48.93. The shipping was about $8, which is very reasonable for Japan to Brooklyn, NY. I sent him an email with a list of what I was interested in and asked for a quote for the total. He replied quickly and gave me the option of paying in yen or dollars. He must have put it in the mail about 10 minutes after I paid him.
  3. Count me as one impressed by Hiroshi's service. I ordered some discs from his place on 3/24, and they were in my mailbox TODAY! That's amazing. He takes Paypal and let me pay in US$(No getting shafted on the exchange rate.). I praise him and his operation highly- they deserve it.
  4. I don't think we've seen the last of Feech- something tells me he will figure a way to harass Tony from the can, or figure a way out to really wreak havoc. Figure to see a lot of whacking resulting from the Johnny Sack/Carmine Jr dispute.
  5. GOOD LUCK CONN!
  6. Peter, What are you on trial for?
  7. So the 'Passion' scorecard is now 2 dead, one convicted?
  8. Saturday- Wake up late(for me), like 7:30, make breakfast(bacon & eggs), figure out what dinner is and get what's needed for that, pick up my son's friend and bring him over for the day, make lunch for them, squeeze in a little listening(Mosaic sets-New Orleans & Mulligan), take the grill out of the shed(It's spring!) and maybe make a BBQ dinner(possibly by flashlight!), catch some B-ball on the tube, listen some more Sunday- make breakfast, get the Sunday papers, listen to tunes, play handball all afternoon with the guys, make dinner, watch the Sopranos, ... My exciting life!
  9. It looks to be available here: http://www.jandr.com/JRProductPage.process...duct_Id=3899638
  10. Yanni is my nomination. I saw him one night on PBS in between interminable 'begging breaks', aka pledge drives, and his music is a morass of pretentious noodling that masquerades as something profound. yes, he looks serious when he plays it, but so do many others lacking in talent.
  11. Is this the ultimate in 'reality television'? "Hey honey, come quick, let's look up Al Roker's butt!"
  12. UA, I work in lower Manhattan and pass by Ground Zero frequently. If you want to see an enormous hole in the ground, it's great, but it really is just another construction site right now. If you want to go there and contemplate the utter senselesness of the attack or mourn for the lost ones, maybe that's worthwhile. If you go to J&R, it's two blocks away. If your girlfriend likes shopping, you can go to J&R and she can go to Century 21, which draws discount fiends from all over the world. Last week, I was walkinh around at lunchtime and I saw some Italian folks hunched over a map, so I asked if there was something they were looking for. In broken English, "Century 21"! They thanked me profusely when I walked them over there. (Contrary to reputation, many New Yorkers are helpful!) I went to the Empire State building last year, and it's quite a blast on a nice day. The view from the observation deck is fantastic, and there's a ride on the second(?) floor that is very nice. You might also want to take a Circle Line cruise around Manhattan- it takes three hours and you get to see many landmarks and get a neat history lesson from the narrator. On a mild, sunny day it's very relaxing. Their pier is located about three or four blocks from the Broadway theaters, and is right by the Intrepid Air/Space Museum. I also went to that and it was quite a lot of fun, you can climb into planes, etc. Here's links: http://www.circleline.com/ http://www.intrepidmuseum.org/
  13. UA, If you want museums, you can go to 'Museum Mile', on 5th avenue from about 73rd Street to about 90th Street. You can visit the Metropolitan, the Whitney, Guggenheim, etc, all on the same side of 5th Avenue, with Central Park across the street.
  14. UA, Check out this link for theatre tix on the cheap(Keep in mind that these folks don't have every show, but if you're not fixated onone show it's a great deal): http://www.tdf.org/index_default.html I would rcommend going to the downtown location if possible- the lines are much smaller, so you'll spend less time waiting. The downtown location is about 7 or 8 blocks away from J&R, so you can combine the two and make both of you happy! Near Times Square is Virgil's BBQ, a very good BBQ restaurant that is not very expensive. If you like pizza, John's on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village is fantastic, but they sell only pies and they open around 4:30 P.M.I've eaten there and the pizza is top-notch, thin crust perfection. Lombardi's in Soho is also highly regarded. There are restaurants for almost every cuisine you can think of- can you post what your favorites are, or what you're interested in trying? Make sure you and your girlfriend are wearing comfortable shoes- while heels may look good, after walking awhile they're probably pretty painful. You will walk quite a bit. Get a hold of a subway map, and when you get to NYC buy one-day unlimited Metrocards(available at the vending machines only in the subway stations) for the cheapest way(&usually fastest) to get around. If there's any info I can help provide, feel free to ask. I'm a native.
  15. Here's agreat 'Sangreyism': If you were blindfolded and otherwise cut off from your senses, would you be able to tell who was sucking your dick? If you could be certain that you would never, EVER find out, would you even care? If it takes you less than one second to answer that last question negatively, you're probably not a Miles fan, and if you can ever answer it 1000% definitively one way ior the other without actually knowing from experience, you're DEFINITELY not a Miles fan. But if you have to admit to yourself that you just don't know... This ain't all about anonymous dick sucking. It's not even a little about anonymous dick sucking. It's not AT ALL about anonymous dick sucking. But it made you think, didn't it. Think about that. You all think about that.
  16. And your avatar is eminently watchable!
  17. On AAJ, someone mentioned a series of Buddy Guy live gigs from January. I went to the webiste and ordered one, they're each $20 for two discs + shipping. I have now seen three different sets go on Ebay for over $40! New for $20 or used for $40+. Ah, the stupidity...
  18. The cover alone is worth it, but then you add the expert advice about touching and intimacy- who knew? I ordered a couple of blues discs, one Latin & a fusion- at a fiver a pop, I'll experiment. Maybe I should have ordered the orgasm disc to somehow justify the purchase to my wife?i
  19. If I'm Bobby B. I'd be reeeeal careful- Janice's men have a bad habit of winding up dead! The Paulie Walnuts subplot with the gardeners could be the spark for a war- Johnny Sack reminds Tony every chance he gets how Tony left Johnny Sack hanging when JS wanted to whack Carmine. The gardener dispute could give JS his opening to at least damage Tony. And Jim, if Feech allies himself with Johnny Sack, I see you eating breakfast at McDonalds! Adrianna is headed for some horrible end- Drea DeMatteo is doing a great job portraying her anguish, confusion & pain- it's almost palpable.
  20. Pete C, I also was at the concert that was released as 'Mingus at Carnegie Hall'. I always thought it a shame that the first set was never released- the group smoked that night.
  21. RT, Good communication skills are essential to this position. You'll be giving tours and speaking quite a bit to groups, and you'll probably have to write a bunch of stuff as far as proposals, outlines, etc. A good speaking voice or one that can carry will be useful. I seem to recall that you did some choral stuff, so you know how to project your voice well. Good organizational skills are always important. When dealing with groups of kids, 'Santa Pazienca(sp)'- that's Italian for patience of a saint', frequently heard in my house when growing up with my two sisters! BEST OF LUCK, RT, LET US KNOW HOW THIS DEVELOPS...
  22. RT, You have a great deal of knowledge, and anything you don't know someone on this board knows, you can handle mass amounts of paperwork, you're enthusiastic about the music(Do you like kids/can deal with groups of them?), do you need anything else? The money may not be great, but how many people get to do something that relates to something they love? That may be worth a lot. Go for it, and impress upon the interviewer that you are knowledgable and that you'd love to share that with kids.
  23. And Paulie can't even close the trunk! I saw Tony Sirico on the street one day(helives in Brooklyn), and as he passed by me I whispered"Paulieeee". He shot me a Paulie Walnuts eyebrow-raised look that made me laugh out loud!
  24. Uncle Junior watching 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' & thinking Larry & Jeff were he and Bobby B. was hysterical! The gardener with the arm brace/cast was a good laugh, too. Does Robert Loggia have the perfect mafia hood voice?
