  1. Jazzmoose, It is a permanent condition that you will never recover from- there will always be someone new to check out, someone else that has something to say that you want to hear- might as well do it in music, if you did it with women imagine how pissed your wife would be!
  2. Click on 'Last Chance'- here's the link: http://www.mosaicrecords.com/last.asp
  3. Belated congrats, Dan, you are now a 'homo'. Join the club! That's short for homeowner, you know...
  4. The switch in Tony B from ex-con trying to go straight to thug was a little too abrupt- it seemed as if he had it going pretty well as a civilian. I was already thinking of some subplots for Mr. Kim's daughter when Tony B. beat the living daylights out Mr. Kim. Tony B. did mention Keith Jarrett as good music to play in his prospective massage parlor. Loved Paulie Walnuts warning Tony B. to remember Pearl Harbor!
  5. Ralphie-boy, I thought the same thing, as I was not a big fan of traditional stuff, but listen to this box and gain a whole new appreciation- I did.
  6. I won't even have Lasik surgery to correct my vision, but let me go out now and get designer crap put in my eye- sounds like great fun! Of course, 10 years from now we'll hear about some horrible complications resulting from this procedure and have a rash of lawsuits. Invest in canes and guide dogs, I tell ya...
  7. DTMX, Nixon resigned that same year, in August- perhaps you caught his resignation speech. It's amazing all the crap that Aaron had to go through, not only in breaking Ruth's record but in playing ball in the minors and the Negro leagues. To go through all of that and still be dignified and not intensely bitter and sullen is a testament to what a remarkable person he is. His autobiography is highly recommended,an interesting read that sheds a lot of light on how baseball was in those days, and society, too.
  8. May I extend a warm welcome to the coolest jazz board on the web. Prepare to have your knowledge expanded greatly(mine has)!
  9. Claude, This guy is looking for cash or money order, has zero feedback, lives in Russia and is an Ebay member for the last 6 days. I wouldn't risk a dime on that...
  10. Oddly,as I remember it, Cannonball had a top forty hit with 'Mercy,Mercy Mercy'
  11. UA, Hiroshi gave me the option of paying in yen or US$.
  12. When you pay in yen through Paypal, you are at the mercy of Paypal and whatever rate they are charging that day. When you look online for conversion rates, keep in mind that those rates are for large($250,000) deals in a particular currency. So the rate that you see on any currency converter is not what Paypal will charge you- they'll take that rate and then jack it up a bit. If it is a large purchase that could make a difference in what your final cost is. When you pay in dollars, your cost is fixed. When you pay in yen your final cost will vary depending on when Paypal processes the transaction and what rate they are charging at that time. I bought some discs from Hiroshi recently and was able to pay in $US.

  15. I thought I saw a post from Mnytime last week on a thread about headphones and volume. Mnytime claimed to be a doctor on that thread...
  16. Does anyone know what Elvin Jones' ailment(s) is? I'm just curious.
  17. Don't forget that the schedules haven't come out yet for the freebies, like 'Celebrate Brooklyn', and the River to River Festival'. I saw Don Byron last year for free doing early rap & funk, caught Blood Ulmer with a blues band(including Vernon Reid) last year, etc. You can't beat the price...
  18. I'd go for Eale Warren myself- after all those recordings, he had a great career as a Supreme Court justice, including the Miranda ruling, etc.
  19. Splendid job again, Couw!!!
  20. Check out the link below for an interesting disc. You may recognize two of the names in the blurb... http://www.ccmusic.com/item.cfm?itemid=CCM04352
  21. Now I remember...Brownsville Station opened for ZZ Top at that 1974 gig in Central Park. A nice NYC reception for a Long Island band. People were throwing shit at them.
  22. I saw a full page ad in the Village Voice for Van Halen- they're going with the original lineup.
  23. Janet & Michael both bought their noses at the same place.
  24. 7/4, Was that Mahavishnu concert with Jean-Luc Ponty, and it rained like the devil in Central Park? I recall McLaughlin saying, "If you can take it, we can play" before an amazing encore.
