Akanalog, When you finally receive the disc and you're sure it's a bootleg(it will be), complain like hell. Go to Paypal and let them know that you got a bootleg and you want a refund. Next, go to Ebay and report the listing as a bootleg. If you can contact the record label, do so and let the record label know about it - they may also contact Ebay and put some pressure on Ebay to boot this jerk.

There's a seller by the name of malnaenator that is a must to avoid. This joker sells Russian bootlegs. I bid on a Buckethead CD, won the auction, waited two weeks and didn't see anything. So I email him, and he replies that the disc is being shipped from 'Europe'(this clown is allegedly in NY). The disc shows up, postmarked Russia and is a bootleg, with Russian lettering in some parts and words misspelled. So I go back to him and tell him I want a refund, it's a bootleg, etc. He claims it is a 'reissue'. I also let him know I would report him to Ebay and I would check with Buckethead's label(ION Records) for any Russian reissues. Of course, there were no reissues by ION, so I reported him to Ebay, the RIAA, and ION. I got a refund, but I think this thief is still selling his junk on Ebay.

Singer June Pointer dies of cancer at age 52
PHILLYQ replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I saw the Pointer Sisters in concert in the 70s as an opening act for the Brecker Brothers(Yes, it was billed as 'Brothers & Sisters'). At that time they hadn't yet gone into strictly pop/disco stuff, and they came out dressed to the nines(in the NYC muggy summer) in 30s style garb and proceeded to do an entire set of swing music1 They made quite an impression on me that night. -

GOM, According to the story I read, Goden CHOSE jail. He could have gone to rehab again, with failure resulting in 5 years in jail. He chose to take no rehab and the sure year. -
For thin crust pizza John's is GREAT- there's one in Greenwich Village on Bleecker ST. and I believe there is one near Times Square. For Junior's(ne plus ultra of cheesecake), just get the 'R' or 'B' or 'Q' train to DeKalb Ave in Brooklyn and go right upstairs and enter cheesecake heaven! They also have eggcreams, which have neither eggs nor cream in them. If you're REALLY adventurous for pizza, the place that is hailed by many for the best slice in NYC is DiFara's. To watch Domenico DeMarco make a pie is to watch an artiste at work. You may 45 minutes for a slice, but it is well worth it. 'Q train to Avenue 'J' in Brooklyn, walk one short block and you're in pizza heaven. The area is no problem as far as crime, etc.

I went to see it a couple weeks ago because my son wanted to see it. I reluctantly agreed(I'm not a rap fan) to see it, and I enjoyed it very much. Chappelle is very funny just hanging out, and the bit he does with the band and 'Hit me' is hysterical. The thing that really made an impression on me was how much I enjoyed the rapping. It was all done with a live band, so the performers were not at the mercy of prerecorded tracks, allowing the music & the performers to breathe. The rappers also were not gangster rappers, so no diatribes about how many guns, hos, bling, etc. Instead, they embraced positivity and struggle for freedom.

Jim Campilongo is a verrrry good guitarist in the rockabilly/country vein. Does he get much of a chance to play on this one?

Have Wynton, in a teary-eyed reconcilliation scene, produce Doo-Bop? Followed by Stanley Grouch saying that he always loved electric Miles and he wants to get Albert Murray to listen with him. -
I seem to recall(IIRC) a live album that had Herbie Hancock and Jack Dejohnette on it and they did a somewhat funky version of a cut from Sextant(Hornets?). Anyone else remember that one?

Celebrating Roy Haynes 81st Birthday
PHILLYQ replied to Lazaro Vega's topic in Jazz Radio & Podcasts
Roy Haynes recently sat in with the Allman Brothers Band for 'Afro-Blue'. According to the review I saw, everyone laid out and let RH solo, and the band wound up standing around the drumset watching the master at work. 81 and still kickin' butt -
H appy B-day, Berigan and I hope you're feeling better.

Folks, before we get carried away, remember this is Vince 'The Producer' Wilborn talking, and he could be just blowing smoke or trying to get someone interested in the project. I'll believe it when someone actually signs on to do the movie.
