  1. Happy birthday, Goodspeak. Have a glass of that Columbia Crest Grande Estates Merlot.
  2. The cough is the darndest thing to get rid of. I have that for 7 weeks now and shows no signs of going away soon. Better now than a week ago. The cough medicine with codeine helps so much.
  3. Allen, get as much rest as possible. The only thing that really helped me finally get over this thing was alot of sleep.
  4. I haven't participated in one of these things in the past mainly because you guys know a hell of alot more than I ever hope to. That said, what the heck. Count me in! Could be fun. Download sounds good.
  5. Disc 2 "Who Threw The Sleeping Pills In Rip Van Winkle's Coffee", what a great title!
  6. Thanks for the input fellas. While I do enjoy some big band performances, Woody Herman wouldn't be someone I would normally gravitate towards. Hearing the track played on the radio station and then the announcer mentioning all these familiar names sparked alot of curiousity. Adding this one to the wishlist.
  7. I heard a track off this album earlier today and was really intrigued by the many great musicians the announcer mentioned who played on this live date. Recorded at the 1959 Monterey Jazz Festival, musicians included: Herman on clarinet or alto, Al Porcino and Bill Chase on first trumpets, Conte Candoli and Ray Linn taking trumpet solos, trombonist Urbie Green, Victor Feldman on piano and vibes, guitarist Charlie Byrd, bassist Monty Budwig, drummer Mel Lewis, baritonist Med Flory, and the tenors of Zoot Sims, Don Lanphere, Bill Perkins, and Richie Kamuca. Any thoughts on this release?
  8. KSDS FM San Diego I've been listening to this station all morning since I'm sick. I just turn the speakers up and head back to bed. They've been playing some great music.
  9. I've been taking Tylenol for the fever and ocassional chills and that seems to be working. I'm getting ALOT of sleep. I'm pretty much confining myself to my bed, since it appears when I do get up and move around I start feeling bad again. I'm coughing my head off at times although I am taking some cough medicine the doctor prescribed to help. An interesting story, I called work yesterday to talk to my supervisor after my doctor visit and that I had the swine. She wanted documentation from my doctor that this was the case. She said it was one thing if I had just the regular flu, but since it was swine she needed to follow a different set of procedures.
  10. People who don't own pets, don't quite get why we become so attached to our animals. They're just like family and when they pass, the loss sometimes can be devastating. Enjoy the many memories you shared and when enough time has passed, get yourself a new buddy.
  11. Just came from the Doctor a short time ago and he said I had the swine flu. I felt crappy last night and after going to bed early in an effort to get sufficient rest, I still felt lousy this morning. Called in sick. I have a fever, achiness, lack of appetite, all those wonderful symptoms. I'm out of work for at least the next 3 days, possibly longer. This coupled with the fact I've had this nagging cough the past 6 weeks which only has gotten worse over the past 24 hrs doesn't help the situation. I had an annual physical 6 weeks ago and got a flu shot but nothing for the swine flu. I'm pretty much confined to the house and have to get plenty of rest. It sucks but what can you do?
  12. I tried to give a friend a headsup on the Side Steps collection, but it was too late. At least I got my copy and that's all that matters.
  13. Glad to see your endorsement on this one, MG. I might be able to get ahold of this one in the coming days.

    Herman Foster

I purchased Lou Donaldson's "Blues Walk" in the past day and came across the listing of musicians on the session and thought to myself, Herman Foster. Never heard of this guy. I think his playing is well represented on this release. Glad to come across this thread and see others who also admired his work.
  15. Jeff and others, you don't have to pay to actually hear the performance. As long as you have a registered account with the site, you can listen via the media player for FREE which the website provides. Hope this helps? Just click on "Play".
  16. Wolfgang's Vault Since I'm on there mailing list, I thought others here might be interested in hearing this performance.
  17. I received both the Side Steps and Fearless Leader collections today in the mail. It looks to be a John Coltrane weekend around these parts and my weekend just started now!
  18. I purchased this set earlier this year from Newbury Comics. A great collection of music at a great price. Anyone who enjoys Art Pepper ought to own this one. A no brainer.
  19. Thanks guys. I'm sure gonna enjoy these recordings. Alot of good music to look forward to hearing in the coming days.
